Has anything like this happened to anyone else???

We live in an upstairs apartment and we have a screened in front porch.  The other day I was out watering some flowers on our porch and Daphne was playing with one of her babies.  I finished watering the flowers, but Daph wasn't done playing, so I went inside and left the door open a crack for her to come in when she was ready.

WELL, I thought I left the door open enough, but I guess she couldn't get back in.  So I went back to the door and let her in.  She was out there without me for maybe 1 minute by herself.  SHE WENT NUTS!!!  She started doing her turbo run around the entire apartment and growling and ducking underneath the furniture, leaping off the couch.  It was hilarious!

Then, yesterday we went for our nightly walk, and my husband crossed the road, but a car was coming, so Daphne and I waited for the car to pass before we crossed.  SHE WENT CRAZY AGAIN!  She started turboing around my husband's legs, wrapping her leash around his legs, and almost knocking him to the ground.  Of course, I wasn't much help b/c I was laughing so hard I had to sit on the ground.

I'm sure we looked like fools, but it was so funny.  I have noticed that if she doesn't get her way in some situations she will get do this.  She must be a little too spoiled  Does anyone else have any experiences like this???

She's a classic rat terrier!

Mine get that excited anytime one of us walks in the door, even if we've only been gone a few minutes.

It's hilarious!  I thought maybe she was just being dramatic (which she usually is).  I never knew small dogs could have such large personalities!

Russ does the "Atomic Sit Down" if I start heading in a direction he doesn't like when we're walking.
Now that it's shorts weather I'll also get a wet nose on the back of my knee if I'm not paying enough attention to his Highness.

They have bigger personalities than most of the big dogs I've known! At least more dramatic and energetic.

Oh, here's a good one - when I walk over towards the laundry area to get their leashes Mitzy run up behind me and shove me with all her weight with her front paws right at the back of the knee! I've almost had my knee buckle from that.

When i get Izzy's leash to go out she will run circles around me until i get a hold of her. Then she sticks her nose right against the door waiting for it to open so she can get out the moment the door opens. I actually got a tie up thing for outside so that she can just be put on the chain. I have started now where i let her stay out there (while i watch from inside) alone for a few minutes to help with her seperation anxiety. She will sit at that door and paw at it until i let her in. But she is starting to run alittle more while i'm not out there either. She has been doing much better while left alone too. Has pretty much stopped the eliminating while we are gone.

The Atomic Sit Down is parking your butt on the ground with breathtaking speed and refusing to move until Mommy is facing the direction you want to go, cuz some days Mommy is a little slow on the uptake. Or if it is raining, refusing to move AT ALL.

-I'm so glad that Izzy is making so much progress, great news

Toby does the same type of thing but I call it Cocaine Dog.  He just runs around crazy scratching at the floor moving 100 mph around the house on the chair, couch down the hallway and around and around.

Too funny! Savanna does this in the yard, the turbo thing! (not enough room inside!) She also will 'scream' if I leave her inside while I am outside. I wonder what the neighbors think!

OMG do we have the same dog or what??

When Sassy and Punkin are roughhousing, they have dropped me twice! I mean to the ground!
once outside and once inside... they don't pay any attention, and have nailed me from behind and because my body is not stable, down I go...

I think you're right Jan, we do all have the same dog! Shiloh has flattened several of us here but seems to take great pleasure in doing it to me... She's a rattie 500 runner too and will turbo around you inside or out, makes no difference and the old cold wet nose on the back of the knee trick? I call that Mommy herding. It's quite effective! After being goosed like that, you'll go anywhere!

If you want the best seat in the house ... move the dog!

I know Russ Pal' told the story at the Tennessee meetup, but maybe she can tell it here about us going to my great aunt's house and him being told to stay on the screened porch...

I heard you say.....

There isn't a screened in porch built strong enough to hold Russ. He's an escape artist.
