Aka will take a nap and will sleep so deeply that I almost worry that he isn't breathing. When he wakes up and we come back in from potty time, he then takes off on this running fit and I mean fit. He is going 90 miles an hour, his ears are flapping, his tongue is hanging out and he is breathing so hard it sounds ragged!!!

He will run like a wild man, then just come back in the room and flop down like, "so whatcha doing?"

Too funny!

Dottie does the same thing when a new person comes in the house. She runs laps through the livingroom and kitchen while diving under chairs and the entertainment center. She wants to make sure that everyone knows that a new person has arrived and that she is soooo happy to see them! You just have to sit back and let her go!!

No one has mentioned carpeting, vinyl floors, and the transition! Our old farm house has a patched-together floor plan so that you can go in a circle: kitchen, living room, bedroom, hallway, right turn hallway again, and back to kitchen. Everything is carpet except the kitchen. The crashes, near crashes, and downright spins that Rita has while on her circuit would be a thrill for NASCAR fans to watch. She never lets these "incidents" slow her down -- she's a Eveready Rattie, going and going and going.

I love the Everyready Rattie name!!!! and you are so right, Aka will head off into the kitchen/dining area and do some amazing slides, skids, etc. It doesn't slow him down for more than a stride or two!!  And when he takes a corner too tightly he almost tips over!!

Everyready Rattie, I love it!!

Cheryl, your quote just cracks me up!

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I've got a ratty 500 dog myself. Should have seen her with Cinder our old blind tom cat this morning. Shiloh goes with me wherever I go and we'd just returned from the doctor's office. The cat tolerates the dog but not much else. But Shiloh was very excited to see kitty, ran laps around him and then, trounced him. Poor cat never knew it was coming. Cinder laid there like what the heck! While Shiloh stood over him all triumphant and gave him a drooly lick for good measure. Followed up by eating the head off of her new rubber duckie and is now sleeping soundly with what's left of duckie. Gotta love these pups!

If you want the best seat in the house ... move the dog!

Sweeney loves to run his own Derby after his walk. I bring him inside and he hunkers down just inside the door (when I say "get in your gate"). I unlatch his leash and he gallops the length of the dining room to the kitchen. He's usually good to the finish line, though there have been the occasional mystery spin in the middle of the track and a side track onto the offshoot to the bedrooms.

Yep Ivy just came in from her Rattie 500 around the yard and my car and cat ect.  Almost time for bed she can go and go.  It's nice after cause most of the time she is ready for a nap.  She can just run circles around our collie poor old fellow he just stands there and looks at me like well is she done yet.

My cousin Niki's opinion was that Sweeney looks to be about 5 years old.

Just call Dani mom to a Monster on 4 legs we call BB
