you have to flip it in the air, jump on it with your front paws, run around it in a circle, flip it again then sit down to enjoy it. Alice has this new thing with her treats, she has to play with them forever before she will eat them!! It is just so funny!!

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too ~Mom to my good boy Fred and my crazy girl Alice~

Dixie will take it in her mouth very gently then go smell of it, if it meets her smell critieria then she bites it, if it meets that criteria then she will eat it. She if very picky on her treats. she will sit for them and lay down but then is pushing it way to far for her to lay down for it. If she doesn't like it she will literaly turn her nose up it. funniest thing I've seen on a dog. My lab mix Alexis will walk by and grab it before Dixie gets a chance to smell it sometimes.

Alice's dance sounds cute. Of course if anyone did that here someone else would snag the treat most of the time (unless I had them in sit stays specifically). Nothing like a little peer pressure to make a dog eat treat fast! I take it Fred isn't a treat thief?

By the time he eats his and is coming towards her the antics are over. She times it perfect to be sitting to eat just as he is coming back from eating his. His favorite place to eat is under our dining room table. It's "his spot".

Minerva's favorite treats are rawhide chips ... For some reason we call them chewbacca's and once she gets hers she does what we refer to as the wookie dance ... The funniest moment was when our puppy had one and was contently laying down munching away ... Minnie jumped on the back of the couch, looked out the window, barked like a maniac and as soon as Ozzy went to the window to see what the fuss was, Minnie jumped off the couch and stole Ozzy's chewie ... of course there was NOTHING out the window, what a smart (and evil) little girl she is ...

I go home for lunch to let Geigh and Boozer out and I give them a treat when they go back in their crates. Geigh eats hers right away. Boozer will leave it in his crate until I get home and then takes it outside to eat it. Can you image having food sitting in front of you for 4 hours and not eating it? I do not have that much will power.
