I agree with Cat....I think what you did was so unselfish. I can't even imagine being in your place. I did just a quick google yesterday on autism and therapy dogs and a very limited scan led me to think that, while some dogs are being specially trained for autistic children, often - more than with say blindness or deafness, for example - it seems as if in the case of autism that it's much more than special training. What I mean is....it appears as if the very basis for whether a not a dog can help such a child is more about the connection between a specific child and a specific dog and there doesn't seem to be any scientific of determining this "connection". That the bond is very unique, and not able to be forced. I don't think just any dog, trained or not, would necessarily work. It has to be that one special dog So, in my way of thinking, perhaps this was all just meant to be. This sweet child meeting her special dog through you. And you having the strength to to give up something that you love for the love of this child is extremely commendable.

I have taken both dog's over several times and they have stayed there overnight several times and Lindsey never really acknowleged Dixie my Rattie. So yeah your right I guess it was that very special dog to that very special child. I know deep down inside the will each others best friends they both can grow on and with each other as the days, months and years pass. Earlier when I wrote Lindsey had a spell. She folds up like in a fetile postion and rocks back and forth and sometime very violently exceptionally against a wall or hard object. We are hopeing Alexis will help her from hurting herself. Lindseys parents told me this morning, they have seen a change in Lindsey's behavior just over night. I just want to thank all of you for the encouraging words. I know I did the right thing deep down. but it's like letting your skin kids go. I still have to worry about the skin kids leaveing for another 8 years.

Ditto what Morgan said!!! I have a friend who has an autistic daughter and I have done some research on it and it is a very confusing, difficult, trying, and heartbreaking disorder. God bless you for your selflessness and doing something most people wouldn't have the COURAGE to do!!
