Well, it's pouring here in NY, supposedly the biggest storm in 10 years, flooding, high winds etc....well, Rylee is not having it, and I know he has to go potty, but as soon as I open the door and try to bring him out, he sees the rain and backs up and starts shaking!! I take his leash off, and he runs back to bed, where he is still!! He's also not sure about the umbrella, since I have to walk him on a leash here I use the umbrella to try and keep the rain off of him, but he doesnt get it! Ahhhhhhhhh, i hate this, I really want to leave and get to the gym, but i want him to go out first!! I dont want to come home to a mess, he hasnt had an accident in the house in the short 3 weeks that I have had him. I know he can hold it, but I dont want to chance it, I would just like him to cooperate!!

Oh, Rylee is definitely not alone on this one...most of our ratties don't seem to be found of the rain. I have to force Daisy to go out if it's raining anymore than a slight mist.

I actually have to take Abby out under the carport to get her to go potty in the rain.

Somedays it's just not worth chewing thru the restraints.

Lucy will run towards the door, but as soon as she figures out it's raining out there, she slams on the brakes and throws it in reverse!

Thanks! It's good to know I'm not alone in this one...After I wrote, I carried Rylee out to the grass and he went! I was so happy! Another pet owner here was walking his dog, and the dog was whimpering the whole time! They are too funny, if only they could talk....(and use toilets!)

Ginger will do this even if there is just moist grass. And the shaking, she always does they shaking at the first sign of any slight coldness.

Bob will try to potty on the covered patio if we don't watch and make him go out into the yard.

Apollo will head for the door too but when he notices that it's raining he'll sit and look at me like "You really don't think I'm going out there do you? "cause if you think that you're outta your mind!" and then do the eyebrow thing.

lol, Mic is the exact same way, even when just the grass is wet he won't walk in it... weirdo It doesn't rain here to often, but I bought him a raincoat (with a hood!) anyway and he loves that!  Plus he gets extra attention when he wears it because everyone walking by thinks he is "the cutest thing!".

When it's raining a lot like it has been here for the past several days, I keep piddle pads on the floor in the hallway, and my dogs use them. If it's not raining, I don't keep them down. But it sure saves on the carpet! My dogs HATE to go out in the rain. (well.. two of them do. Buster & Bailey go out regardless of what the weather is, but Bailey was an outdoor dog for the first six months of his life so I'm guessing that's why)

Sassy don't like the rain either, but she will stand in the shower for an hour....
I'm grateful she uses the puppy pads...
Our new yard may curtail that some tho, I hope...

mmmhmmm, another water phobe here. He hates the rain, but he loves going for a ride, so I'll drive a couple blocks away and walk him- then he thinks it's a big adventure. I've tried the umbrella, nope, didn't like it. You should see me on rainy days checking the hour by hour forecast on weather.com, plotting out optimal walk time. I feel like friggin Patton plotting maneuvers.

It's kind of crazy but I often find myself trying to 'splain things to Daisy. For instance: last night, she didn't want to go pee again before bed (around 11 p.m.) so we're standing at the door and I'm like, "Daisy you need to try and go now, because I do not want to get up at 1 a.m. Please".

When I talk like this to Bob, my hubby will tell me that he doesn't understand what I'm saying.  I think Bob understands my tone of voice and body language.

Dottie dislikes the rain when it is cold but does not mind it much when it is warm out. I have a giant umbrella that she likes to hang out under when she must go out in the cold rain.

Poor Molly last night had to go soo bad, but was scared of the rain. She ran around inside for an hour before getting up the nerve to go out! Watching her, you'd think it was a huge storm instead of a spring shower!

My pup doesn't mind getting wet..as long as the water is very warm but he has a terrible problem with his feet being wet which is quite funny- only because he picks them up and looks at them at the slightest dampness, He even goes so far as to bark at wet towels for having the nerve to be anywhere he might step

Lucy doesn't like the rain too much either. Lucy doesn't even know it is raining until we get outside and to the end of the landing. Then she puts the brakes on and you have to carry her. Once you set her down, though, she's on it, thank goodness!

I can't say I really blame any of the ratties, I wouldn't like going in the rain either!

Well - it's raining in Iowa today and we had to trick Toby into going outside.

Ludovico, I'm in Iowa too! It's not raining where I'm at yet, but I expect it to happen soon.
Illyria doesn't know it's raining until she gets outside because the upper deck covers right over the concrete slab that's outside our basement door. Usually she'll go out, but won't go in the grass. Sometimes we have to pick her up and put her in the grass before she figures out it's okay (when we can catch her that is). But ususally if it's raining, she doesn't mind it too much since she'll lick the concrete... what a strange girly I have!

It's raining here in Nebraska. They hate going out in the rain...it's so cute. Caesar will pick up one of his front paws then switch to the other one to keep from getting wet and cold.

My parents' rattie had to have a shelter bulit off the edge of the porch to tinkle on rainy days! Our little Dottie is fine in the rain unless it is cold too. When it is cold AND wet she tries her best to stay on our feet.

I've thought about building a shelter for Bailey, she will not go in the rain, unless it's been 15 hours and she can't stand it any longer and then I have to talk her into it. She start to get off the porch and then come back. After two or three times, I'll tell her "go real fast Bay" and she will finally.

I feel right home in this department. My dogs will not go out when it is raining I have to go out with them. Then they just sit on the patio and will not budge. I am like the local forecaster, trying to time their potty times to when the rain will let up enough so they will go.
