We had the painters doing the outside of the house. This meant windows open with no screens for about a week. Now the house has a nice population of autumn flies. Hendryx is showing his "anything a cat can do, I can do better" rattie nature. He sees a fly, he leaps for it. Often enough he catches one on his toungue. He'll play with it a few moments and then GULP
I've read that ratties make cats look like pikers, I'm beginning to see that may be true. |

Eww! Daisy eats moths and stuff. Along with crickets, and those praying mantisis ( sp.) Man, Ratties sure can be gross sometimes!  |

Yup! Same here! Flies, moths, spiders, anything that moves. Except these ugly little beetles we have right now. I think they stink or something, so he'll chase em down and mouth em, but them let me kill em.
Rowdy has done way better than any cat~ killing insects, mice, and other rodents around our house. I'm not sure if it's fortunately or unfortunately, but he doesn't eat the mice. Only makes them look gross and leaves them as gifts! |

| Mayfly is an expert mosquito hunter...we've got little smudges of blood on the walls where she's snagged them....and she does eat them. Ick. |

we like to call Max "Hoover" cuz he will suck anything up. If there is a fly that he has been chasing and he just can't reach it, my husband will pick him up and hold him close and Max will just snatch it out of the air! |

This summer, I could hardly get Molly inside at night...she had to catch her nightly moth.  She toys with them like a cat would. Tears off the wings, and flips it in the air over and over again. Eventually, I have to take it away and kill the moth. Evil doggie!
I call my ratties "cat-dogs" They do so many cat-like things. I've never had a dog who jumps up on the back of the couch and falls asleep there, or eats moths and I swear they "meow" sometimes too. I think it must be whatever makes them great hunters also brings out the cat traits. |

Yeah, Moki does this too, but you gotta be on your toes. We were sitting ouside on the patio one day and she was sitting in my lap. I wasn't really paying attention, but a fly landed on the bridge of my glasses. Moki snapped at it and I thought she was going to take my nose off. Another bit of learning the rat terrrier world. |

| Sam likes chasing down the flies in our house and gulping them down too. He also has developed a taste for ants, which is actually a good thing considering our ant infestation problems. |
