no matter how excrutiatingly HOT it is in the room!!
Rowdy insists on sleeping under a blanket (not a sheet!) no matter how hot it may be in the bedroom when I go to bed. Now that it's cooling off, I sometimes forget to turn down the heat in the house during the day and since the bedroom's upstairs and heat rises... Well, it gets really toasty warm in there sometimes. Enough so that you don't want to have a blanket even touching your skin!
But not Rowdy! He'll stand there on the bed next to me, just staring at me, pacing back and forth from my knees to my shoulders, looking for a blanket to burrow under. The only thing that will entise him to lay down is to break down and pull a blanket across my legs. Then, and only then, he'll happily burrow under the covers and curl up directly against my skin.
I don't know how he does it! It'll be so hot under there I'm sweating, but Rowdy insists on being under the blanket sharing his (incredibly hot) body heat with me!!! But I so love him anyway!!! |

| Hendryx loves being under the covers. He curls up right over the most convenient (to him) pair of legs. Later, he'll smell or hear something outside and then bolt out of the bed growling - waking us both up in the process. |
|
His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK! |

I am new to this site and will get photos on soon. I have three rat terriers. Baby is 3 1/2 female, Minnie is 1 1/2 female and my new 8 wk male puppie. The two older have to be under the covers every night. They will pull the covers until they are under and sleeping with me. When I got my 8 wk puppie last week, I also got the sister for my son. During the day when my son is workiing, I go to his house and pick up his puppy so it is not alone to long.....so I have four rats taking the house apart ! Having grown up with all kinds of dogs, I find the rats the most loving and devoted breed. My 3 1/2 year old is larger about 16 inches and thinks sitting on my shoulder on the sofa is easy. The 1 1/2 year old jumps up and stand on me all the time, trying to kiss my face. the new puppy has found the bed and after letting her join in, sleeps all night. Anyone that comes to the house, is like their new best friend. I would recommend a rat terrier to anyone that want a loving dog that loves to snuggle/kiss and be a best friend. |

Dino is like that too. And if I don't let him under right away, you know what he does? He starts clawing at me. He got me right in the face once. The sad thing is... he ALWAYS gets his way. Haha. |

Abby does the same thing!! She always sleeps right in the middle of us under the covers. If one of us takes her out she buries herself under again. We can't help but love her though. |

Smokey does the same thing! He lies curled up on top against Jeanne until I throw back the covers on my side. As I get into bed, he scoots under, curls up and goes to sleep between us. He stays there for a bit then crawls up to stick his head out and there he stays all night. |

I'm new here but Jenna (my daughter rat terrior) is the same way about covers. One night I was under the covers and apparently I was too tired to realize Jenna was desperately trying to get under the covers and couldn't. My husband was sleeping soundly on top of the covers (on his side with his back facing me) because he was hot and of course he was wearing nothing but his boxer shorts. Well apparently in her desperation, Jenna mistook a gap in the back of my husband's boxers as an opening in the covers and decided to head on "inside". All of a sudden I hear "WHOA, no Jenna baby that's not the covers! No Jenna, this way!" LOL. Anyhow, perhaps it's just me but I still get the giggles when I think about that night. Needless to say my husband makes sure Jenna is under the covers before he passes out now, hehe. |

| Ratty is the same way. When we go to bed he waits until I get on settled on Daddy's shoulder and then Daddy lifts the covers and under he goes to sleep at Phil's feet or by his side. If you forget to lift the covers and let him in he will use his nose and burrow his way in on his own. |

That is hilarious. My rat Lacey does that too. She is ALWAYS under covers. My dogs have a special chair that is theirs to lay on in my living room and it has a big blanket on it. Never fails if we can't find Lacey...look under the blanket, and there she'll be. Sleeps in my daughters bed that way too, under her covers. too funny. |

| I bought minnie a kennel pad thing, that is made somewhat like a sleeping bag. At agility trials, or even just in life rats have sensory overload, so she can now get under the covers no matter where she is! It fits perfectly in her kennel, and she can push it up with her nose it is a sleeping bag but has hte padding, I bought it at USDAA nationals, if your dogs travel their is nothing better. |

| Before getting our Molly I thought that dogs didn't like sleeping under the covers. Believe it or not the first dog we ever had that did that was a Red Nosed Pit Bull and we thought she was just strange. However the first night Molly was in out House she came upstairs and as soon as we were both in bed she ducked under the covers to sleep by our feet. I had read that Rat Terriers knew just what covers were for and I now realize that is true. |

| Bingeaux is also a cover dog. He sleeps in his own kennel each night, but he loves to get under the covers or pillows on our couch during the day. The other morning my wife and I were drinking our morning coffee on the couch. All of our blankets were folded up neatly so Bingeaux found the next best thing. My wife was wearing a robe and Bingeaux managed to stick his entire head into the pocket of her robe. He laid there with his head in her pocket and took a nap. Everytime she would move and his head would pop out, he would just stick it back in and go back to sleep. |

| Our Molly sleeps under the covers all night and doesn't get up till my wife does. I know she is up when I hear the sound of paws running down the stairs. If one of us happens to pull a Quilt over us while on the Sofa she jumps up and digs under. I don’t know how it will be in the summer but for now she seems to think covers are for her and we are just sharing them. |
