Sproket makes very vocal strange sounds..it's very bizarre..he does it when he's tired or if he's sleeping and you move him..its hard to describe, they aren't barks and I've never heard anything like if from another dog ever...am I alone on this or is this normal for these types of dogs?

Welcome to the forums!  Your puppy looks real sweet in your avatar.  You'll love it here!

Oh, yes. Ratties are quite the talkers. Button had real conversations, complete with varied intonation, with Betty Bear, one of her first rubber squeaky toys. (Betty Bear has since been punctured, arms & legs amputated, beheaded and has gone to toy heaven now.) Zipper talks when she wants to play with Button or hears a squeaky toy. It really amuses us when they "chatter".

Lucy is more vocal than Molly. (Molly is the barker) She does this high-pitched growl/whine, for a lack of better words, when she is the "dominant" one in play. They both yawn loudly when they are waking up, along with plenty of moaning and groaning.

I had a rattie mix who would try to "talk" to us...his son (Buddy) still does it. They'd even "talk" to each other the same way. It's the funniest thing...Buddy will start groaning at me, and I'd talk to him, and he gets louder and louder the more I talk to him.

Buddy - gone but never forgotten.
