I take Fester with me everywhere.  When we go into a pet store and puppies are running around, wanting too play, sniff him Fester cannot  get away fast enough.  Now, ....... a big lab, not paying attention  just walking with his person will come by.  Fester will start growling, hair up teeth showing.  Can someone please tell me what this little dog is doing.  A big dog that could easily hurt him he's aggressive with, but a pup..... nothing, cannot get away fast enough.  PLEASE, ANY IDEAS....  Thanks

I don't really have a answer for you. Savanna doesn't like most other dogs. Period. She loves people tho. I'm sure someone here will help tho.

Could be fear agression, is he afraid of big dogs? You're right though, he could easily get hurt doing that. I don't have a good answer for it (I have a dog with fear aggression). I just keep her away from big dogs unless in a tightly controlled situation. I'm sure Nora will be checking in soon - she's the training moderator - and give you some advice.

BTW your avatar is adorable!

Not really sure if he's afraid of big dogs. His playmate is a female rottie, 110lbs so it's not like he's never been around a big dog.

How old is he? It sounds like maybe he was not socialized enough. Nora should be able to help with this one!!

He even growled alittle, I told him no..... Shelby is good and he has too be good. My little man doesn't know how lucky he truely is.

Sounds like he is very possessive of you. You'll have to show him you are alpha.

My husband says Fester is good with everyone, family but " we all know he's your dog". Fester does mind me. I think it's alittle odd he won't allow anyone but me too pick him up. Right now he's laying at my feet, his head on my left foot.
I'm disabled and Jeff bought Fester for me too keep my mind busy. Someone too take care of. Like I said, he goes with me everywhere. I no longer drive, so he does see new faces. Whenever anyone tries grabbing him I tell them no, let him sniff you, don't ever try too grab an animal you don't know. Just common sense. Right??

Millie does that too. I think she's afraid of big dogs and employs the "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality. What I do is to "meet" the dog along with her. I try and get her to to do her sniffing before she starts to get anxious. Once she's sniffed out the dog - she'll walk away like she's bored with it. Ha, ha. There are just some dogs she doesn't like for whatever reason - large or small. I try and socialize her with all types of dogs and help her to work through her initial meetings.
