Opel is gathering up toys and laying on them she is stealing rico's and gui's toys and lays over them too I think she rolls on them to get her scent on them. she butt bumps into the cat and tries to take her food her dish. just now she just had a major fit trying to get my attention to get my food which was told to lay down and then ignored and she quit. if you don't set in sight of her she goes from dish to dish we been keeping up the other pets dishes and feeding seperate. its just that opel is starting with all the house toys now. what should I do I never seen this. rico shares everything with the cat and Opel. But Opel just lays on it so he can't get it back.

Well, keep the foods separate like you're doing. As far as toys - I would let Rico and Opel work it out between themselves as long as they aren't fighting like they would hurt each other. I've got 4 dogs and 2 cats (anyone want a cat????? please take mine!!) and if I tried to control who played with which toy it would be a full time job. And all of mine are toy obsessed - ratties don't seem to grow out of acting like puppies!

Opel might just be testing boundaries, too, being a puppy. You did the right thing when she wanted your food - you are Alpha and she shouldn't be allowed to take anything from you. JMO

Oh, cat food isn't good for dogs anyway (too fatty) so putting the cat's food where she can't get it is a good idea for both reasons.

thanks Mary beth your the greatest I do try to keep the cat food away from both Rico and Opel. They don't fight over the toys its just seems like Opel wants them all and she has this everything here is mine attitude all of a sudden. it just made me worry if it would be a behavioral problem but she never growls or anything if Rico takes a toy back but she will follow him either take it in a non mean way or wait for him to drop it and steals it back. it almost look like she has compulsive controlling syndrome lol

That's because she's a rat terrier!   Mayfly will actually sit on top of Mitzy to steal her toy.  And Mitzy is the master at getting toys from other dogs.....like if Skipper is chewing on a Nylabone on the couch and she wants it, she will run over to him and intice him to get down and play with her.  Then, quick as a  wink, she'll hop up on the couch and take the Nylabone!

Apollo and Emma take turns being the bully.  So it evens out.  I honestly think that they would never hurt each other or anything so I leave them alone when they play fight.  Apollo will take what Emma has then Emma will take what Apollo has!  Emma will take a mouth full of food and go into the living room to eat it and when she comes back for more Apollo will back away from the bowl to let Emma get another mouthfull.  This keeps the peace so I allow it.  I know it's just where Apollo has established himself as the alpha dog though.

For the time being, I would definitely feed them in separate locations and supervise the feedings. Puppies don't know boundaries... they have to learn them. The other dogs will help her learn, as will you...
Concerning YOUR food? You did exactly what you should have done. She needs to learn at an early age that your food is your food -- not hers.

Dar, who is if you don't know yet, a Dobie, and she does that same stuff to Lucy, She steals Lucy's toys, she is the boss of the food dishes, she is the boss of everything doggy.  She is THE ALPHA, and she makes sure Lucy knows it.  We do feed Lucy and Heidi seperately, and we leave dry food in the dishes all day, We do feed the dry with a fish oil suppliment one time a day.  That is the one we have to make sure every dog gets their share of.  Dar jumps into every game we are playing with Lucy, even though she won't usually play games on her own with us now that she isn't a pup anymore, But if Lucy brings us one of her toys to thorw so she can bring it back to us, Dar jumps in and takes the toy every time, usually Lucy will just change toys and keep the game going but Dar will eventually steal that toy too, until Lucy loses intrest.  Dar will play with Lucy,  In fact Lucy tries to impress Dar with what she knows, she will crawl across the floor To Dar, she will scratch Dar's butt or neck or what ever she can reach, she will take toys to Dar,  Dar lays on the toys too, and she can lay on quite a few at a time.  Heidi is not interested in toys or games, So Dar leaves her alone,  Dar is the boss and she wants everyone to know it.  Sounds like Opel is trying to let the others know that she plans on being the alpha dog in the house.  Which is fine as long as you make sure she knows that you are the Alpha person. Seems like you are dealing with one smart little rattie.  Good luck,  Barbara & Lucy

Luckily i just have Cassie but in Cassie's mind, she is the Alpha of the house (dog or not).Cassie usually doesn't beg for food unless i'm eating Ramen Noodles (she can hear the package open from a mile away,i swear). She's not very playful either.i do wrestle with her but that only lasts a few minutes until we both get tired.Cassie has something against being loved on,i guess she thinks she's too old for that kinda stuff now.She loves attention but just don't push it with her
