Ok, Apollo does really well with his come command on his long line... you've seen the videos.  However, sometimes Apollo like to "escape" out the back door when we go outside.  We don't have a fenced in yard ( we are actually waiting for approval from the Home Owner's Association... as soon as we get apporoved Brad has promised to fence in the back yard.)  Anyway, when Apollo "escapes"  I can call the "come" command to Apollo and he'll come to me, but when Brad calls the "come" command Apollo ignores him.  Is it because I am the one who works with him?  Brad will yell from outside "Honey!  Tell Apollo to come."  I'll step out the door and say "Apollo, come."  He comes to me right away.  Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks sooooo much!  Oh and let me know if you need to know any additional info!

*** bump *** for Nora (in case she didn't see it)

I'm wondering too, if Nora would think it's a good idea to work on training Apollo and Emma that they are not allowed to exit a door until given permission to do so?

Me too Tracey. Or I was thinking maybe have Brad work on "come" with Apollo. Apollo just looks at Brad like he's stupid when Brad says "Apollo come." Kinda like as if to say "You're not my mommy."

Oh, that's a good one, Tracey!  Lucy and Dar know that unless I say "ok" when the door is open, they dont go out it.  I can prop the front door open to bring several loads of groceries, for example, into the house, and they will stand there, with their toenails on the threshold looking and begging with their eyes, but wont go out until they get the "ok".  I dont think I know how that happened, though, because I dont remember actually teaching that to Lucy.  Guess Dar taught it to her---whatever, I'm glad they do it.

I think the SHOULD listen to Brad as well as you, but think, too, that they should be/can be trained not to bolt out the door - I think I saw this on the Dog Whisperer once.

I agree... they should be trained not to bolt out the door. But ( oh please don't think I'm making excuses ) here's the thing... before I open any door in this house I say "Apollo stay! Emma stay" and they stay. But Brad telling them to stay doesn't work. It's like they don't respect him (?)... sorry lake of words. But you know like children do. Am I making any sence? Sorry, trying not to sound stupid here.

You don't sound stupid (SHUT UP). I know exactly what you mean. It is probably along the lines of Brad not being the one to "work" them. Perhaps on Apollo's next training session, he can do it?

Thanks Tracey and Paul.  And I'll start working with them to not bolt out in the first place.
