Opel asked around 3 times to day to go potty and she came to the recall command 2 times and went inside on her own. Thanks Nora and every one we are still working and going to continue I know she is not in full recall mode but 2 out of three gives me hop ethat maybe in a month's time she will have it down pat and all will be well you guys are soo great!

Lisa... indeed there IS hope! There is always hope, and these little dogs are so smart and willing to learn! One key to being successful with the "come" command is not giving them the opportunity NOT to come. Don't call your dog to you if she's not on a long line so if she doesn't respond immediately... you can "reel" her in to you and treat her when she gets in front of you. She's got to learn that coming to you reaps HUGE rewards and NOT coming to you reaps nothing at all.
I've seen so many people... when their dog goes running out into the yard... hollering "come! come!" and the dog totally disregards them and keeps running. In situations such as this, the dog is in control.. not the human. The dog doesn't HAVE to obey because the human has no control. So in essence, the human is providing the opportunity for the dog to ignore him.
Now... who's at fault in this scenario? The dog or the human?
NEVER call your dog to you unless (1) you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will come or (2) you have ultimate control if the dog does NOT respond immediately
Sorry.... I can really get on my soapbox about this. I'm adamant about it...

So glad to hear that the training is progressing. I'm sure with continual work, she'll get better and better, but recall is one of those commands that should be constantly reinforced throughout her life, really. And (IMO) there are some situations in which I would never trust any dog, no matter how well-trained he/she appears, to be off leash and counted on to come when called. I.e.: very busy, high-traffic areas.

Good luck and keep letting us know how Opel is doing.
