Well i am having MAJOR trouble with trying to get Jasmine to walk on a leash... Toby took to it like a duck to water i guess i was lucky there, but Jasmine as soon as i put a leash on her she starts to shake and refuses to move, i have tried to treat her as she walks but she doesnt even want to come get the treat shes petrified!!!!

The only time she walks on one is when she is about a foot away from the house and knows shes going inside.

She doesnt even want to try and walk inside the house...

But the moment i take it off shes running around inside and outside the house without a care in the world.

Please help i have no idea how to get her started!!!!

thanks

Well, she's just 8 or 9 weeks old, right? She'll get it. Let her wear it around the house (while you're right there with her) for a while....and give lots of treats. There is a good post on leash training somewhere - prolly the one Tracey is looking for!

When we first put a leash on Bob, he thought he was paralyzed and couldn't walk. Good luck!

MB is right. She is very little still and it will just take some time. It's only necessary to get her used to it at this point as long walks are not really necessary. She is at the age when I really recommend the vast majority of her "outside time" be about housebreaking anyway - as it's easier, I've found, to wait until they've pretty much associated being taken outside with doing their business before they realize that outside also means walk and/or playtime. Plus, at this age she shouldn't be visiting anywhere where other dogs may have defecated as the risk of contracting Parvo is just too high.

Good luck and let us know how it is going.
