We had our last agility class last night. I think Lucy did very well. The instructor set up a course and we ran it for the hour. The trainer was making comments to the rest of the class while we were running the course and I guess she said that I had a great way of keeping things positive even when Lucy went off course or didn't do something. It was really windy which makes Lucy a bit nuts, but she hung in there. At one point while I was running the course with her she took off and did a few obsticles ahead of me, then looked back like "where'd you go?" This was a great decision to take this course and I hope to take more.

Sounds like you and Lucy both enjoyed the Agility training.  Good for you, that you made it seem "fun" for Lucy, instead of like a "job".  Congratulations on completing the course and having a great time while doing it!

Colleen... I hope that you will consider continuing your agility activities beyond this point. In September, Bailey and I will have been training consistently for a year (hard to believe, isn't it? Were you around when I first started?). Participating in this sport is a great way to bond with your dog, as I'm sure you've learned. I'm very proud of you both, and enjoyed taking the "journey" with you.

Have you got more pictures or videos of your classes to share with us? I would like to do this one day, because Bob and I are both couch potatoes.

I do have tons of pictures of the class last night. I will post some in a few.

I really do think that I will take another course once I move back to the Seattle area. There are more options there and more opportunities to grow in this sport. This course was more of a fun approach to agility. The trainer even stated on the first day that she can't teach us everything to make the dogs compete because she herself has not reached that point with her dogs. But this was a great introduction. I will be back in the Seattle area next summer and hope to get in a course there.

Nora I was around when you first began with Bailey. He has come such a far way in only a short period of time. I think it is just fantastic what these pups can do. Keep up the good work yourself. You two are going to go far.
