We just got our new puppy Kami on friday and we have started to crate train her.. Of course she cries and cries and Macie seems to be pretty worried about her staying in the kennel alone!!

Macie is completely crate trained and I trust her being alone in our bedroom now during the day out of her crate, because there is nothing she can chew on inside our room~~And she pretty much just hangs out in her kennel while we're gone with the door open.

I was wondering if you think it is a good idea to have both of them in our bedroom with the door closed and have Macie out of her kennel roaming around and Kami in her kennel locked up.

I'm just asking this because Kami seems to settle down when Macie comes and lays by the kennel.....And I'm scared to leave Kami in the kennel and have her freaking out and crying all day...

It's OK to leave her in the crate... but depending on her age (which you did not mention...) I would not leave her the entire day. A good rule of thumb is to leave them in the crate for one hour per one month of age. So if the pup is 2 months old.. no longer than 2 hours without being taken out so she can do her business. So much depends on how old she is. If Macie is totally crate trained... why not leave her in her crate right next to Maci's crate? In fact.. you could have them facing each other so Kami will know that Macie is near and that might help calm her in the beginning while you are into the training phases. Would that work? Sounds like they get along good together, and that's wonderful !!!
You did not ask this question, but for sure I would NOT put them in a crate together... too risky...
Do you have someone who could come let Kami out for "potty time" every few hours while you are away at work? I'm assuming you have to be gone all day?

My boyfriend lets Kami and Macie out about every 3-4 hours and she has been doing fine so far (This is only day 3 of being in the crate) She hasn't gone potty in the crate and I think it's because the crate is soo tiny~~

I think I will try facing the crates together just because she gets so overwhelmed when we put her into the crate and cries and cries, but at least she knows to go potty outside!

Macie is 9 months old by the way~~ And Kali is 6 weeks

Sounds like you are on the right track... please keep us posted. I promise you that Kali will get used to the crate, just as Macie did. It just takes time, patience and consistence. Good luck !!

I shouldn't have said anything about her not peeing or pooping because this afternoon she did both in her kennel!!! I wonder if daddy fed her something..... hmmm

When I got Katie and kept her in the crate, Dixie (my Lab) was out of the crate roaming free. (Dixie was 3 and had stopped being kept in a crate)  I think if you trust Macie out of the crate, that would be fine. I agree, don't put them in the crate together. No matter how much they love each other, they could have a fight and you could come home to a catastrophe.
