It's very natural for a resident dog to be possessive of his/her territory -- after all, he was there first, right? He's establishing himself as the leader of the pack with this new dog.
I suspect as time passes, things will improve, but in the meantime... take them to a neutral location and walk them together as much as possible. Let them get used to each other on neutral ground under close supervision. This way your resident dog will be less likely to look at the new dog as an intruder on his territory.
Be patient... and remember to always supervise them!

Cassie is the same way but to her,ANY TERRITORY is her territory.there is some dogs she gets along great with and others she will never befriend,so if i ever decide to get a 2nd dog i'm taking her with me to pick out the one SHE wants!
