Hi all,

So my Harley is doing really well! She has adjusted to our home very well and is no longer timid of me or my wife. But she has slept in our bed since the night we brought her home, my wife is getting really irritated with the dog on the bed so we got her a new doggie bed, but she is not liking it very much at all. What is the best way to get her into her new bed.

To get her to even nap in it I have to lay down next to her until she falls asleep, this works at night sometimes but within a hour or so she wakes up and hops up on the bed. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Krystian J Harley's Daddy

Here is a suggestion that just popped into mind, why don't you put an old t-shirt of yours on on doggie bed so maybe she will feel close to you. Also maybe you could put her doggie bed outside of ur bedroom and close the door(if you have one) and so she knows that it is HER bed!

haha if you find a solution let me know besides hurting their feeling. That's the only way my 4 dogs leave the bed lol Maybe you can keep in a crate at night?

That's a sticky-wicket once you've let them in your bed! We've got 3 sleeping with us.....works ok except at "romantic times"....the girls just sleep but we've discovered that Skipper is a voyeur.

The shirt suggestion is good and/or crate her if she makes a fuss about sleeping in her own bed. Maybe she'll give in gracefully.

Yeah during "romantic times" Harley likes to just sit and watch, lol.
Which makes it a bit awkward but I will try the shirt idea that may work, if I do find something I will let you all know!

Skipper and Harley probably think people are really weird.

I'm having the same problem since we brought Penny home. She's tiny, doesn't take up much space, but it's the fact that she won't sleep in her crate.

I have her in her crate now. I have been letting her out to play, potty, but I have been trying to keep her in the crate. If she cries or whines, I don't let her out. If she's quiet and has been in for at least 1/2 an hour, I take her out.

I wish I could get boomer to sleep with me!!! he woudl rather be with the big dogs on the big dog bed on the floor at the foot my my bed.. I guess my dogs issues are minute compared to other peoples....

BTW we have a had a good week so far with no poo poos in the house (knock on wood). But I quit my PT job and have been home all week.... So I bet boomer is happy to have mom home all the time now!!!!
