So yesterday we had Sadie outside most of the evening. It was beautiful out, she loves it, and Cory was working on the car. She peed at LEAST once while we were out there, so I didn't think much of it as she generally only goes a couple times a day anyway. We came in the house and while Cory was buying some stuff for dinner, I was cleaning some spots on the chair. (Sadie is in heat, and sometimes leaves spots if we don't have a diaper on her there's spots to clean up). She went to the corner and peed right on the carpet. She knew that she had done wrong because she went to hide and peeked out at me. I scolded her and took her out right away.

I just don't know what to do. She hasn't had an accident in a week and a half, and that was only because she was unable to wake us up. She knows its wrong, but she did it anyway. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, and if it could be related to her being in heat.

How long have you been housetraining her? Is this her first heat? Being in heat can make them pee more but she could also have a UTI....this is a common reason for dogs urinating inappropriately in the house if they're housebroken.

If you've been working on housetraining her - don't worry about 1 accident too much. They do relapse, just stay consistent with her - she'll get it.

Thanks. I'm not too concerned that she relapsed because I could tell she knew it was wrong. She's been with us for a week and a half, but Cory's parents had her before that, and the last people who had her said she was trained. They also kept her in a crate all the time too. I'm more concerned that there's something wrong. Thanks for the information.
