I have a 1 year old Rat Terrier and I still do not have her house trained. I take her out every few hours and it just does not help. She goes out, runs around and comes in and does her job. For the most part she has one spot in the house. I just do not know what to do to stop this.

Do you take her outside to potty on leash? If so, take her out within 10 minutes of when she eats or drinks, and keep her on the leash, and dont let her run around and play. Take her to her designated "potty spot" and tell her whatever word you use, (I just say "hurry up, Lucy" Perservere! Stay there with her until she does what you took her out to do.!  Oh, and when she DOES "go" outside, praise or treat her for doing it!

Is your dog on a schedule? They need to be on a potty schedule, especially when training, because they tend to get distracted and often confused.

ETA: Are you crate training? I have found most of my house breaking success comes with consistent use of a crate.

Good news then! Taking your dog to the same spot like Paul said will help.
