in the mail today. I just got her this little beginners set so she can practice a few things in my backyard. It came with a jump, starter box, tunnel, wave poles (which we are of course no where near), and a few other little things to go along with it. I set it up and she was doing well with the tunnel and the jump.

amazon.com, it's the Kyjen agility set. Everywhere else charges like $60 for it, but I found it on amazon for $30.

Here is a sample picture of it. I'm sure I will have some of my own to share soon.

The trainer I had a couple of years ago when I took my Doberman through agility training had a minimum age of 9 months for smaller dogs and 12 months for larger dogs, because she said that they need to be at least that old for their leg bones and joints to be mature enough to handle the jumping without causing physical damage.

Thanks for that. Nibbler has some time to go then lol. He's so smart its easy to forget how young he is.

I thought about taking Frankie to obedience school just for something for us to do together but now that i see the agility training kit I might just have to order it. The reviews seem to be pretty good on it except from people with big dogs. Frankie is so smart that i think he'd have a great time with this.

Colleen,
I have this starter kit too! I also got it from amazon. It's OK for basic training at home. I am using mine almost every day for the weave poles. Also, just FYI, you can make more jumps out of the weave poles by denting two soda cans in the middle and placing the bar on top of that.
Happy training!

A good solid "Basic Obedience" course would be the most helpful thing you could do for Nibbler right now, if you're considering further training later on---comes in REAL HANDY during agility training!   And he's not too young to start obedience training!
