Okay i know im going to get scolded for this but, i really need help.

Currently im free feeding, yes i know bad bad thing to do. but hears my problem, sadie won't eat! she is a grasier. she eat a few bites and then walk away for hours, then come back after playing and take another bite. and walk away, minnie doesn't care much for dry food she will take 2 kibbles and play with them, then eat them. but my hubby feeds her wellness about half a can when he gets home from work every day. about 5pm. she eats every thing in her bowl. we mix in a little kibble with it to.then in the morning i feed minnie again. about 9am but sadie doesn't want anything to do with can food, never has. so im frusterated now. and don't know what to do.I have litterally tried all types of can dog food, she won't touch it. they get chicken strips and chew ezz everyday and sadie eats a salad whenever i have one, which is just lettuce, tomatoe and carrots, no dressing about once a week at least. i know shes over weight, but i need advice on how to handle this. should i put down the food bowl twice a day or?I tried giving her 30 minutes to eat out of the bowl i put down when i feed minnie, she just walks away. I did this for 3 days and finally gave inmy hubby is at his wits end and wants to put them outside at night... i don't. I know minnie is eating good but it bothers me that sadie isn't. also we have a horrible time lately with them getting up every 30 mins at night. i usually get up with them and take them out but they just sit there  should i pick up the water bowl at night? cause we have been finding more accidents when we get up then usual to.  im just so upset because we were doing so good. they sleep with us at night and usually don't get up. I know we don't walk them enough but its 110 outside and we both work different hours. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd have the vet check her out for those "accidents" during the night...she could have a UTI. I do try to pick up the water after a certain point in the evening, but my dogs are all pretty good as far as letting us know when they need out or holding it until morning.
how many treats do they get during the day? I've noticed on the days that my dogs get more treats than usual, they barely touch their kibble at night.
did I read it right that one doesn't like kibble and the other doesn't like canned food? that's hard...maybe try feeding them raw? they may show more interest in their food when you give it to them...I don't know much about it, but other's here do.

yeah, I'd pick the water up at night and see if that helps with the accidents at night...like house-training a puppy, cut off water 1-2 hrs before bedtime. try posting a question about the raw diet in the health section...I know more than a few will know more about it. good luck!

Just wanted to say, to support you since you free feed, that we have free fed Radar for years... He's never been overweight a day in his life. He just eats as much as he wants to eat, a little here, a little there...

But when we got Sophie, we started just feeding them at night. It took Radar a week or so to realize that the food was only out for so long, but then he got used to it. The only other rattie I know in person is my aunt's little rattie, Cricket, who has weight issues, and we didn't want to take the chance with Sophie.

I'd recommend, after you try to clear up UTI thoughts and such, just doing the feed them, take it up ten to fifteen minutes later (not half an hour) and then again later in the day. Maybe they won't eat for the first few days, but when they realize "oh, this is my ONLY CHANCE" they'll eat. Promise.
