This weekend Pepper and I went camping for the weekend. We were ther for 4 days, and my parents and their dog were there too. I started with 10 minutes off leash when she knew I had treats, and called out "come" or "far enough" depending on what I wanted her to do when she got to her boundary she didn't know about. She learned quickly, that she could go to a boundary, just to get a treat, especially when she went near my dad's car. So she started playing the "get a treat" game. (ratties are so smart) Well, I caught on to that, and put her on the leash. By day 3, she was off the leash for an hour reliably, and I only put her on it because she started the treat game. Day 4 was packing up day. I was busy doing stuff, and she was doing the rattie 500 around the campsites. Since we had the whole campground to ourselves, it was OK that she was running so much. In the middle of one of her laps, when she could not see me, I called her. She didn't do a U-turn, but she came right around and stopped when she got to me. I was proud!!! I dodn't even have any treats, but she was sooo good!. |
