Tazz is my third Ratty . She is nine weeks today, I have raised my other two from small puppys and found that they learn fast and can be the best dogs once they are past being puppys. The problem Im having with Tazz I never had with the other two, She seems very agressive for being so young, she wants to play so rough, my hands and arms look like hamburger . She starts out playing good then as she gets more into it she gets out o control! When I try to calm her she bears her teeth, snarls ands bites aggressively. how do I handel this? I have tried stopping the play time, putting her in her time out spot , Scolding her,That only makes it worse ! Help, any advice is greatly apprecatied Thanks.

I suggest you www.goodsearch.com for NILF. This is basically a Nothing In Life is Free mentallity where she has to work for your affection, play time, food, treats, etc. She sounds like she has a strong personality and needs to know right away you are the boss.

I'm not a fan of "time out" since they don't understand this. I tell mine uhh uhh in an almost grunting tone to make them stop. If you need to stop her from a distance a squirt bottle and uhh uhh is what I use. Obedience training will be helpful as well so she knows to listen to you as well.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Paula. They really don't understand "time out" like a child does.

Like Paula said, dog's don't understand 'time outs'. They don't understand whatever you are saying when you 'scold' them either. Give her a firm "no" or "un uh". If you need to, pick her up and gently roll her on her back and hold her there until she calms down. If you're worried about being bitten, wear a glove or use an oven mitt.

Thanks, I will give up on the time outs, your right it dosn't work, i try turning her on her back but she goes more crazy, and gets even more out of control. im not afraid of her bites, I just want to get on top of this before she gets any older, I dont want to have to worry about her becomming an agressive dog. I know now is the time to deal with the problem. I will look into a puppy class, I think that she needs to be with other pups so she learns to play and how hard to bite. Thanks again!

I just saw her picture in your bio.  Very cute!  Puppy classes would be great.  I think the reason she freaks out when you roll her on her back is that she is losing control to you.  This is to submit to you and she doesn't want to.  Never back down to her...stand your ground.  I have even stood on my couch to get a dog to move off of it because they are higher than the other dogs and trying to dominate.

Welders gloves are good for protection =)
