Well little Guinness is very well behaved. Except that when I pull into the garage he goes nutz and before I can get into the kichen and let him out of his crate he pees!

Nervous excited pee I guess. So I have to scrub out the crate --with bleach-- nearly every day.

UUUGGH. I feed him in there all the time. Is he just gonna be a "dirty" dog forever now?

He's almost a year old.

Where's a good place to get belly bands, I've got to try something, this is killing me.

Try to keep it LOW KEY when you get home. Don't acknowledge or speak to him at all, don't make eye contact. Get home, put your stuff down, go over and let him out of the crate and take him out. He may still pee but hopefully not in the crate. Regardless just take him out without noticing or stopping to clean the pee or commenting on it.

How long is he locked up?

Yeah but, he pees before I even get in the door! How am gonna pull into my garage low key?

I've been practicing NILF with him and he's great. But sometimes I think I am gonna give up on him. I hate to admit it.

But I can't take being a pee cleaner day in and out. He's usually in there about 9 hours. While I'm home he's running around the backyard as much as he wants. AND I'm a bigtime dog walker and I take them biking.

Are you so sure he's not peeing until you get home?

I think this weekend you need to do some desensitizing work. That means crate him, then go out in the car. Drive around the block. Come home. Do the low key thing talked about above. Let him out etc. If that works (no potty) then do the same thing but be gone a little longer. Keep increasing the time on these little trips through the weekend. I know it's a lot of work but he needs to realize you are coming back and that it's not that big of a deal.

Maybe someone else will have an idea - this is all I can think of that I would try. Oh and 9 hours is probably pushing his outer limit of success at 1 year old. Some dogs have better bladder control over time than others. Don't give up. He's not doing this to be bad. He's just excited to see you - assuming he's not peeing until you get home (which I have NO idea how you can know that).
