MY GRANDSONS MINI PNSCHER BARKED  AT 2:00 AM FOR 1 HR. BEFORE I GOT UP AND LET HIM OUT.

ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR HIM TO NOT BARK AT NIGHT IN CRATE??? THANKS

i am thinking maybe it was to go potty. Did he go potty and go back to sleep when you brought him back in? How old is he> He may not be able to make it through the night and his way of telling you he needs to go potty is to bark?!

as far as suggestions, if hes a puppy, the older he gets the longer he will be able to hold it...also you want to make sure hes getting enough exercise during the day so that he is tired enough to sleep through the night! Hope this helps!

I am qutie new to this, but find my rattie sleeps through the night--BUT during the day if I want her to stay in crate she screams like a demon. I cover the whole thing in a confortor and that seems to shut her up some. The second I let her out I pick her up and take her to pottie, casue she will pee the second I let her out after confinement. She is 3 months so I guess that is par for the course.

I think min-pins are so cute--but heard they are challenging to train--would be interested to hear how you come along with him

The key is (unless the dog needs something) to ignore them until they stop barking. I know how horrible it can be listening to it. But if you can just wait until a break in the barking...even if it is just a minute...let them out at that very moment. They will learn that silence = getting let out, barking does not. I did this with my rattie and my poodle. Neither bark when crated anymore. If they are normally quiet, and this is an odd occurance then of course investigate to see what they want. A nice yummy filled kong works wonders to keep them occupied while being crated too.
