Hello Everyone,

Today we bought the girls harness`s they are so funny they dont know what to do they think its gonna hurt them to be tied up out doors they didnt move for 15 mins at first. poor baby`s.

Can you keep harnes on  them on them all the time at first ? im so lost !!  right before we got them i had a heart attack so it was slow moving with them . i took them out five or six times a day to go poddy  little dogs are so different than big dogs. but i love my baby`s I just checked them  they have been out in yard just off our porch because they have been running off to neighbors  yard getting thier bigs dogs going ect ect  this is a new habbit they learned two weeks ago not cool cuz they keep their dogs on chain, but if one got off they could kill mine girls .and so we bought harness`s . with new leashes tied them to a rope off back porch so they could run but not far. they were out there 25 mins total one chewed her leash and got loose and they other got out of her harnes.HELP RATTIE PEOPLE IM LOST HERE. it was not cheep for thease things either. i tried to post pic but wouldnt work

Ok, for their protection (you don't want the neighbor dogs to get them or have them get hit by a car, etc.) I wouldn't leave them outside alone.  A secure fence would be best but if you can't have that and you want to leave them outside for a while (with you there and checking on them!) you can buy special tie-outs that they can't chew through.  Personally, I would not trust them not to wriggle out of a harness and still get loose but that's JMO.

If they are inside then I wouldn't leave harnesses on them.  They can get irritated from them or get caught on things.  Maybe if you use the Puppia vests it might be alright though.  I just don't leave anything on mine in the house except their nylon collars with their ID tags on them.

Bailey (my rat terrier) has chewed through three harnesses.
Is your yard fenced? If you are going to leave them outside (which I don't advise...) I sure hope it is.
I concur with Mary Beth's comments...

Hi Mary Beth,

Thank you for your reply. What is the special tie out? im here and alway check. little turds were so good bout staying here in yard but like i said a month ago got in bad habbit going romming to neighbors. im at loss here tried everything. we even built 4 foot high swing door in hall to keep them in our open dinning-living- kitchen area. But they are jumpers too. still poddying in house they get too side traked playing out in yard now to go poddy.  i dont leave them in harness cuz they think they are being punished too.i have three dogs one is chiwowa mix (how ever you spell it) hes a boy, they are girls but he is very good.

im at my wits end here thanks jewels

I cannot have a fence where I live so I had to come up with a way Brutus(rattie) and his "other momma" Belle (pekenise/schitzu mix) could be safe outside. I hate chains but my husband created a neat way to use them just for going potty. He built a ramp on either side of my front porch and put doors in. Even when they are outside on their chains I am there and they do their stuff and bang on the doors to come in. It sure has helped. We walk three times aday around the yard using leashes and their harnesses. Neighbors let their big dogs run loose and they come into the yard all of the time. Using the ramps and chains frees me up to chase the other dogs away and keeps my babies safe! maybe not the best solution but their safety is very important to us. As I said not the best solution.
