| My boys were both around that age when it finally clicked to tell me to go out. Jack is obvious, stands up on the door and stares at you. Jeter just sits there quietly, but he does that when he doesn't have to go out too. Toa will get there soon! |

brsyon at 18 weeks is just now showing me to the door but no "verbal" clues yet. braeli at 16 weeks just goes on schedule and of you miss she goes... fortunately they do both run to the piddle pads.... but its frustrating. they are both holding everything longer and longer... but i can trust them out in the house alone yet. i hope they learn soon. |

| Sounds like Toa's responding to "No" now and also getting the idea of where to go, since he ran over to the door. He's still pretty young. Be patient with him. It's so good you caught him in the act. Those lessons are the very best ones for cementing in his widdle head what you want. I did the "every 1-2 hours" thing, too, so you can beat them to the punch, so to speak. By going that often, you also cement the "what" and the "where" part of the picture faster. That approach has always worked well for me with many dogs. And you'll be surprised at how fast you can move up to every 3 hours. |
