if my 8 1/2 week old puppy is aggressive or just being a puppy? When my rattie-Sadie-plays she gets really aggressive. She will bite at or on my husband's and my hands, and noses (sometimes hard) while growling. She has stopped doing this so much, but her first instinct is still to  bite or mouth everything. When she wants to play she will also bite my husband's pants leg until he says sharply "Mine!" then she will back away. We crate her during the day and also take her on short walks per our vets intructions besides engaging in short training sessions throughout the day.

It just seems like she only has two levels-crazy dog and sleeping cute dog---Does this all sound normal to everyone or should I be worried that my puppy is aggressive and a little nuts?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone-

Corina

Lily our puppy is like this. She is getting better tho. I tell her "no bite" and rub her tummy to change her behavior. I also put my pointer finger on top of her nose when I say no bite. Good luck with your puppy.

It probably is puppy behavior BUT it also needs to be corrected or it will just get worse as she gets older.

Just make sure you have lots of things for her to chew on like Nylabones because puppies NEED to chew on things and if they she doesn't have bones, then your hands and shoes are the next best thing!

When she starts biting you, try saying "no bite" and then give her a toy/bone to chew on so that she learns what she can and cannot chew on.

Also, when playing with her, don't "rough-house" with her and allow her to bite or nibble on you. It will only cause confusion, because she won't understand why sometimes she can bite and other times she can't.

The best thing you can do is be consistent! Make sure when you start this, everyone in your house is doing the same thing. These dogs are VERY smart and she will pick up on it quickly if you are consistent.

If you blow in Bella's face, she trys to attack you.  I think it has the opposite effect on some dogs, haha.

I agree with Morgan - sounds like normal puppy behavior but don't allow her to continue biting you.
She is doing what she would with other litter mates and they wouldn't allow her just to chew on them. Also, at that age they need to chew on something so give her lots of chew toys, bully sticks, etc.

sorry, but I had to laugh at this!! hehe...
youve been given great advice....Trixi also attacks if you blow in her face...I have heard that a squirt bottle works well for a quick correction also...good luck and keep us posted!

Gunner did this to my hubby... and hubby hated it  big time one day he came home with these thick gloves on lol because he hated his hands getting chewed on gunner had those you know razor sharp teeth ....So during the week i taught gunner to no bite  and backed it with my finger tapping him on the nose to get his attention and then taught my hubby to say no bite in a strong voice before he was to pick up gunner..and after  praise him for no bite, about a week of this it stopped .. and they was both happy
