Well, we have FINALLY had some days nice enough to take the pups for a WALK, as in...LONGER than a quick pee/poop trip, the first time Toa did great, around the block only once, I wasnt sure how much he could handle on the leash all at once.

Then next time, we went 4 times around the block...he was LOVING it so I kept going...then the next day, we went once and as soon as we got back around toward my condo building he was pulling AS HARD AS POSSIBLE toward the condo.. I tried to get him excited to continue, getting low, high pitched voice...he was ignoring me and PULLING toward our building....it wasnt cold or wet.....

He did the same thing yesterday and then today he was FINE walking longer....

any ideas on why he might be doing this?  Just TYPICAL RATTIE STUBBORNESS?  I thought maybe he was a little sore from the LONG walk?  ( I know 4 blocks isnt long but for him maybe?) I dont know....its just weird that he would pull hard enough to make me give in....

I also wanted to say, he is not a "puller" in general, he does not PULL to smell things he will sniff and then a gentle tug redirects him back to the sidewalk....this is ONLY certain days and DIRECTLY TOWARD THE HOUSE!

Hmmm...that's odd. Could just be he recognizes where he is and wants to be done.

I have no ideas on what might be the reason he's pulling but if he continues you can try a Halti...I've been using one on Dink and it's working....it looks like a muzzle but it's not, it 'trains' them to stop pulling.

Just a suggestion.

Don't know what the reason is (he might just be deciding it's time to go back to the house) but I wouldn't allow him to get away with it...he will probably just learn he can do that and then do it more often. You could try the Halti or one of the anti-pull harnesses on him.

Reminds me of horses that try to head home whenever they get in site of the barn on a trail ride. I had a mare like that once. I agree, you go home on your terms, not Toa's terms, so keep walking him past the pulling phase. I bet he stops.

Exactly! LOL and what happens if you let the horse get away with that?  Pretty soon you've got a barn sour horse....which is why I said it would get worse if she gave him to him.
