Hi,

Well, I have one that is a bad influence on my other 2 dogs, they're no angels either though. He makes them as hysterical as he is whenever he sees another dog while he's in the yard. He gets shaky and makes his african wild dog noises and runs around and stands with his front feet on the fence.

He is afraid of other dogs and will try to bite them on the nose on walks if a dog comes up to him. Terrified if I try to take him to a pet store so had to carry him the few times I tried it.

But he's a big show off when he's safe at home or in the car.

Does anybody think I could get anywhere in trying to get him to tone done the hysterics a bit when in the yard?

He is 2 years old, looks like another noisy summer is coming.

Thanks,

Terri

Welcome to our group Terri. Tell us more about your Rat Terrier. Sounds as though he has some issues, but maybe at such a young age, he will be able to be desensitized to his hyperactivity to seeing other dogs. There are many folks here who are good trainers. I'm not a trainer, but a trainee. lol Glad to have you with us.

how long have you had him? since a puppy? bought at a breeder? store? rescue?
was he socialized? he has a socialization issue it seems. it will take work but you can
change that with some direction from a trainer and socializatin classes.

i know what you mean about 1 roudy 1 influencing the others...
i have 1 that never barked... #2 is a yipper yapper and get #1 to do the same!
