My dog is way too smart for her own good. When she gets caught doing something bad she gets a kennel "time out" and a talking to in an unpleasant voice. I need to figure out something that she actually punishes her. She just ate the last of the tomato sauce and sausage out of my bowl when I went check the mail and I'm about 99% sure she feels like it was worth any punishment she could get. About 2 seconds later she peed right in front of me. I also KNOW she knows to go outside (She whines by the door). As soon as I said "Electron!" she escorted herself to the kennel for her time out. She knows she's in trouble because as soon as I start to scold her she stares at the floor and starts to growl (this is the only time she ever growls besides at some strangers). How do you discipline?

Yes, the water bottle is great.  Also helped to stop the excessive barking.

Pepper goes running too. You have to make sure you follow through, even if they turn tail, because if you don't, they will learn you aren't really going to spray and it will lose it's effect. Gotta be quick on the trigger.

Exactly!  Timing is everything.  If you spray a little shot (I dont usually hit them with more than a few drops) right exactly as the bad behavior is happening and say a firm "NO!" at the same time, it wont take more than a few times till all you have to do is pick up the water bottle.  I just have to say "water bottle" and my guys straighten up when they are  getting a little too rowdy.

The water bottle didn't work for us. Yaz thought it was play time. She tried to catch the water.
