My cousins RT Zoe goes absolutely crazy over her kong, the some times have to take it away from her because of how she acts. Theyve been trying to ween her of it, well when they took it away she started to bald a little on the top of her head and on her chest. Is this an anxiety thing? Will she be okay? Any advice would be great. If it were I Id of just given it back to her, but they dont want her to have it because how she acts when she has it.

What was she doing with it? Sounds like maybe they need to exercise her more and interact with her more so she wouldn't be obsessing on the kong....don't know the situation so that's just a wild guess.

The balding thing...does she itch? I guess it could be anxiety but they might want to take her to the vet to rule out demodex mange or allergies.

Okay, she gets really possesive over it at times. And she will constantly run across your lap until you throw it for her. Also if you throw it you will be stuck playing catch literally for hours. Now personally I dont think this is a big deal, but they cant stand it, so they took it away from her. I kinda feel bad for her but when I confronted my cousin, he said she started balding before they took it from her, and THATS why they took it from her bc they think its from her "feelings towards the Kong... just thoght I would see what everyone else's thought was or if theyve had this happen?

Huh? I think a dog can probably loose hair from stress (not sure though)....how much attention does she get?  DO they exercise her? Long walks? Train her at all?  It still sounds like she's looking for attention and has excess energy which needs drained.

Okay. I am confused. But if the balding started first and is getting worse then they should at least consult with their vet on it.

She is a hyper dog, they give her lots of love, but not too much exercise. They would throw the kong around with her, but Im not joking when I say one throw turns into hours. She's trained somewhat. She knows, sit, stay, laydown, come, bring it, drop it, and her name. She is a very smart dog... obviously being a RT lol. But yea thats probably it, lack of playing with her. Even though I have been there on numerous occasions where she willl keep herself occupied for quite sometime lol. I just feel so bad, shes slightly bald on top. :0( Hopefully it will grow back. My cousin insists she's fine, and that it has happened before with a toy she chewed up and they had to take away... lets hope she "gets over it"

Sarah, I didnt notice the balding until they took it away, but he says it happened when she had it and they took it away to see if it would get better. Im assuming they think it causes he anxiety and maybe it will stop? I really am not too sure what he thinks actually, all I know is he thinks shes better off without it. I just feel bad for her, and he thinks its no big deal that she will be fine.

Is she fixed? Dogs can bald because of hormones, ruling out that it could be allergies, and stress hair loss. The coat will thin from stress, my dogs have thinner coats when they show a lot (when I say a lot I mean 3 weekends a month). I'd give the toy back, and try interacting with the dog while he has the toy, a good toy is a powerful motivator.
