Harley is just a little guy the crate I bought him seems to small it was 22wx18hx24l He had only enough room to lay so I went out and bought on that is 36Lx24w 22h seems better to me but everthing I read says you dont want room for them to go to the bathroom but we will have to start leaving him home alone for up to 6hrs and I want him comfy. What is correct size...

Until he is reliably housetrained/crate trained, you definitely only want it to be just big enough for him to lie down and turn around. Too big and he will go in one spot and lay in another and that defeats teh purpose. How old is Harley now?

Pepper has the 36 by 24. Sounds like the one you have now. She's 18 neck to tail, but when she lays down, she just barely fits. We had the one one size down, i think it was 20 by 30 or something, and she had her nose crammed against the bars. Make sure you get one that you can block off a part of it while she's still growing.

I would totally stick with the small crate until he is 100 percent trained, you can use the larger after that. Are you crating him for short periods now to get him used to it? I would also use the crate for house training him also.
