that exercise is the key to solving destructive behaviors.  Every morning I get up between 4:30 and 5:00am. I take Chrissy out to potty, we come in and have breakfast, and PLAY.  I really focus a lot of attention on keeping her active in the morning. We go back out and potty again and walk. By the time I leave for work at 6:45 she is tired and ready to go back to bed for a nap.  She has NEVER torn her potty pad apart.....

until today!  I over slept. Didn't get up unit 6:15am. We only had time to potty, and have breakfast and share a few kisses. I then put her back to bed and left for work. This photo shows what I came home to at lunch!  Guess she had too much pent up energy.  I cleaned up the mess without getting on to her - after all it was my fault.  We went for a long walk at lunch and then while I was eating I let the cat in and they ran races around the house for awhile. This is what we normally do at lunch....so I hope she was ready to take a nap when I put her back up when I left.

If you are having problems with your rattie being destructive or some other behavior problem, please consider increasing their exercise!  I really believe that is the key.

I think you are absolutely right, especially if your puppy or dog is an only furbaby, exercise or even walks releive so much energy and stress. With this bad weather I really miss our morning walks and late night walks. I am sure they do too.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

The Dog whisperer tells you the same thing that exercise is the key to non destructive behavior.

I agree and with all this crazy weather we have been having I am using the treadmill more and have found Spanky likes it as well . We now have this added to "our" normal routine. After getting hubby out the door, I set the treadmill at it's slowest speed (because of Spanky),after I am on it he will jump on and we will walk at "his" speed for about 10-15 minutes, then he's ready for his "power" nap... works for us .

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

Chrissy loves the treadmill too, I just didn't have time this morning. I will be going to bed on time tonight so that I can get up at the regularly scheduled time so we can exercise. LOL
