***I feel I have to put in the disclaimer** I AM NOT like that impatient freak who had her dog destroyed, and I WILL work this out***

So this is not completely new - she has growled at my 8 year-old daughter before when Little MB comes and takes Egypt out of my bed in the morning, but tonight, I must say I got really ticked off at my dog.  She growled and snapped at my kid, even though the kid just wanted to play fetch with her.

I put her in a time out in the other room, and said NO at her when she did it, but it really made me mad.  Little MB understands the pack system, and knows that since she is the bottom of the human pack, Egypt is trying to get one over on her, but still, it made my little girl squeal and cower a little and that is completely unacceptable.

Any tips?

Oh - and I must go to bed now - have to be up for work in 6 hours....so don't get mad at me for posting and running....

Was egypt in bed asleep? Jack did this to Aiden once and actually nipped at him and left a mark. I posted here frantically! Nora's advice was great. Nothing is free type of training. Make them work for everything. She also advised that Jack not be let to get in bed/furniture on his own accord. She should be kept off of the bed for now, and when she is allowed back on, it should be you who invites her. It is a privledge. And when allowed to sleep with "the pack", she must be fully aware that you are alpha and your daughter is alpha also. Does your daughter feed her, let her out, etc. to establish herself as alpha to Egypt? I will try to find the link for the thread I posted.

The behavior last night with the growling and nipping was when all of us were in the living room putting up the tree.  Egypt was really into cornering my poor cat - that's another story - and Emma tossed her toy for her to fetch.  Egypt went and got it, brought it back and dropped it.  When Emma reached for it, Egypt growled and snapped.

As far as the bed goes, luckily Egypt can't get on unless invited - it is way too tall for her to jump on.  When she has growled at Emma from the bed is after I left for work and Egypt had gone back to bed with Mr MB.  Emma's job is to fetch her before leaving for school and walk her again.  Perhaps Egypt was asleep - I am not really sure.  But the living room playtime part is what really bothers me....

Emma walks Egypt, gets her crate nice and comfy, takes her out of the crate, etc.  but Egypt still does not accept her as alpha in the pack.

Thanks for your response.  I will make sure that Emma is more firm with Egypt and try to watch their interactions more closely.
