I have a situation going on, and i dont know if it is serious or not. some of you may remember that i had my two girls  spayed about 3 weeks ago. well everything showed it healed up good, and the doc told us we could remove the stitches if we wanted to, so we did, and  everything was going good until last wekk, we noticed on LILLY that she had a little bulge where the      cut was. well fast forward a few days and it has gotten bigger.she has a pretty good  protrusion where she was opened up. has anyone had this happen before ? my thoughts would be a hernia but thats just    my guess any thoughts would  be appreciated

I'd call the vet that spayed her. My vet always follows up a surgery with free check ups as many as they may need. He recommended I bring her back in 10 days to remove the stitches. The only complication Venus had was a urinary track infection afterwards, how I knew is she was making several small piddles rather than a normal emptying from her bladder.

I would get her to the vet asap. I can't tell from your description but it could be anything from a stitch being rejected to a hernia to infection. Is it red, inflamed? I tend to be extra careful with any abdominal surgeries. If it's nothing then great but have the vet look at at. JMO

Dittos on getting to the vet, I've seen at least a half dozen spays recently and none looked like what you are describing. After three weeks there is hardly more than a pink line and maybe some pink dots if sutures were used.  I'd be concerned about infection.

thanks all for the interest. it looks like it healed up fine. it has just a thin pink line where the incision was. now when i look at it, it has a round bulge, then in the center of the bulge it has a red colored bubble about the size of the end of my index finger, thats looks like it could pop open at any time. she doesnt really act like it hurts when you touch it. i am gonna call my vet ASAP in the morning.

great.... She needs to get back too the vet. Maybe nothing, but better to be sure. I took Miss molly back. She was glued, and it didn't look right after 2 days. I took her that day. She was fine but they can't talk....

I would take her to the vet, better safe than sorry.
Kip's had a red circle the size of my baby finger print, it's not always red, but if she heats up you can see it. However it's not bulging or anything, and the vet did take a look at it.

ok i took her in first thing this morning, the doc looked it over and poked, squeezed and and a few more things at it.he said it is not a hernia. he said that a lot of it is scar tissue that is enlarged. he said that he has saw some dogs that were alergic to the absorbing/dissolving stitches. he gave me some antibiotics, and said to watch it for a couple of weeks. but he said if it get bigger, to call him and he would see what is going on.

Yes, I had a foster girl who was allergic to the internal disolving stitches....her body rejected them 4 days after her spay surgery. The surgical glue on the outside could not hold her intestines in and everything came out...it was horrible. We got her to the vet and he saved her but that episode made me nervous about anything going wrong with spay surgeries! I've had a bunch of dogs spayed (mine own plus fosters) and never had a problem until then.

Lacey developed a "mass" at the site of her spay incision about over a year after the fact, we had to have it removed and it turned out to be caused by a retained suture. We too thought it was a hernia at first. Her's got to the size of a ping pong ball!

Glad to hear Lilly got to the vet and checked.  Now you have a little peace of mind with the antibiotic to ward off infections.  Plus you got some good feedback from others who've seen similar conditions.  That's the great part of our forum.
