Sorry if this is posted somewhere and I didn't see it...I was just wondering how long I have to wait in between baths?? My husband is always on me to give Julia and Caesar baths. I just thought if I gave them too many so close together that it would be bad for their skin? How long do you guys wait in between bathing your ratties?? |

I usually give Mic a bath 2 times a month... sometimes more if he stinks, sometimes only once a month if I get busy and he's been lazy... but I try to aim for 2 a month. But he doesn't go outside much, just to the bathroom during the day really, and a walk at night when its cool and dark. I think that's about what I do... I don't really keep track. Really, I go by smell, if he has a smell, he gets a bath |

Funny- I was thinking that very same question as Rowdy was showering with me this weekend. I think he usually ends up getting a bath once a month, but he seems to get so dirty between baths sometimes from days he spends outside with Schatzi... So I was wondering if it's OK to bath him more often.
Thanks for bringing it up for me!
Oh! And congrats on becoming a RatATatTat!!! |

Thanks!!! My husband kept bothering me about bathing them because I let them sit on the sofa...he didn't want them to stink up our furniture...

Arm and Hammer makes a kind for pet smells too. I use it on our mattress and sofa. Our lab is allergic to the Febreeze, but the Arm and Hammer stuff seems to be a little gentler on her skin. |

| I give Millie a bath every week because she will sometimes go swimming off our boat and I don't want to leave salt water on her. Her fur is nice and shiny and she never has any problems getting bathed so often so I guess it's OK. She never has any doggie odor getting bathed so frequently which is nice. |

Bob gets a bath when he starts stinking and whenever I have time. It usually ends up being every 2 or 3 weeks. I'll probably give him a bath on Wednesday, but don't tell him! I have to sneak up on him and take him to the tub or he'll hide under the bed. |

| Jack gets one about every two weeks and I still use the puppy shampoo on him unless he is REALLY dirty and stinky. It seems to be gentler on his skin. |

| I have read somewhere that it is ok to give a dog a bath as often as you would like. I typically give Lucy bathes at least twice a month depending on her stink level. |

| This is funny cause everytime I turn the shower on, Shadow comes running and jumps in the shower. I have one of those walk in showers... He just stands there and looks at me like, where are my bubbles... I laugh at him. So he gets a shower about once every 2 weeks, sometimes once a week. Most of the time I have to shut him out of the room so he can't come in. My little guy just loves the water. |

Kami gets lots of showers because she cries if she can't lick the water off my legs and jumps into the tub while i'M showering... I don't usually wash her though, just kinda let her get all wet We give both of the dogs an actual bath/shower every 2 weeks.. unless one of them ends up rolling in the other ones pee outside |

I usually give my girls Franny Mae and Patty a bath once a month. Franny Mae does not like to bath but, Patty does not mind it. Franny Mae tends to have itchy sensitive skin so I use a special shampoo for her that I got from the vets. Her fur is not thick like Patty's who seems to stink more. I wash their bedding every month also. And I have have a special covering for my bed that I wash every week. They love to sleep on my bed during the day
Does anyone have trouble with water getting in their ears? I try to avoid that. I heard some people put cotton in their ears so it does not get wet. I just try to be careful. |

I try not to put their heads under the water too much when I'm batheing them~~ I just wash their heads with a washcloth.. My uncle's dog used to get ear infections all the time from water in his ears so I also try to try the insides of their ears with a towel before they take off to do the rattie 500 |

During show season a few get baths every week. Our gang is a clean bunch so they only get a baths as needed. Then there is Pugsley..
He is a choc tri that gets so dirty you can't see the white on him. He has had so many baths that he has grown web feet. |
