| I guess you could call it teething... that's what I called it. Apollo teethed around 5 or 6 months though. He began to loose his baby teeth and his adult teeth came in. He would bite alot too. |

| Lucy teethed at about 5 months. I would find those little things everywhere. I loved the look when she lost all of her front baby teeth. It was just too cute. |

At 7 months, I'm not sure if she is still teething or not. Either way you have to stop her from chewing on you!!! Maybe try some bitter apple spray on your hands, and a firm no. These pups love to chew. Get her a kong, or a nyla bone. |

Walmart has nyla bones. The one near me does not have kongs, but some do. Anything hard and rubbery she can chew on is good. Don't be surprized if she destroys it quickly. That's what these pups do! I don't reccomend the rubber squeaky toys tho, they don't last, and they break into small pieces. |

You really should stop her from biting you---even if she is only "playing". If nothing else, when she attempts to bite you, hold her down in a 'submissive' position and tell her "NO" very firmly, giving her a stern look right in her eyes----and hold her there until she is calm. It could take a minute or so .Biting is not something she should ever think is ok to do. |

Apollo and Emma LOVE ice cubes. Apollo is a 15 lb rattie and Emma is a 5.4 lb Toy rattie and they both do fine with the ice cubes.

They make doggie teething toys. Most are rubbery things, but if you want sonething cool, try this:
www.petco.com/product/9705/Multipet-Chilly-Bone-Super-Soft-Canvas-Dog-Toys.aspx
It was one of my dogs fav's. Just be sure to pick it up and re-freeze it when they are finished with it.
One of the dog books I read said that they can teeth until 8 months, depending on the breed. My girls started right at 3 1/2 months, and I think are still teething a bit...maybe molars coming in?! I just make sure that there a plenty of safe things to chew on. |

Our pup is a bit over 5 months old and has been showing visible signs for about two weeks. I say "visible" because he's always been a chewer, but two weeks ago we noticed him chewing the air, with a noticable tooth-on-tooth "ting". We thought he had something he shouldn't and out came a molar. Onother sign was a bit of spotty blood after gnawing his toys. We've noticed some teeth missing and he's probablly swallowed them since we haven't found any more. Never considered any of the teething things for pups but rumor has it our Grandma would rub whiskey on our gums!! Gotta love the old country!!
Also have to agree with Paul's suggestion. Nip the bitting/nipping, however cute and playful, in the bud. Your pup thinks like a dog with a leader and followers. Establishing the order is up to the owner. Even though you go to work every day and pay the bills, once you are home, your pup will resume the pecking order. |

Lloyd went through the teething stage about 2 weeks ago...he lost like 5 teeth in one week. He'd be playing/chewing a toy & I'd notice blood on them.He lost his front teeth on a Monday & had new ones by Saturday!Seriously.I gave him the frozen wet washrag & that helped some, but he'd cry in an odd cry at night--so I bough Baby Orajel & put the smallest drop on his missing teeth area & it made him stop.I am sure he wasn't feeling well (like babies don't when teething). His new teeth are so straight & perfect & much bigger than the ones lost.I found a few of them & MAN, they were small.I will keep them...he's the closest thing to a child I'm going to have!! |

| I have had dogs teeth for a year! Chewing is wonderful in its place, but even Momma dogs don't let their puppies chew on them. My Momma dog used to grab her pups by their noses and press down and hold them till the pups squealed. It never seemed to hurt them and they learned really quickly not to bite Momma. |

| Trixi is really enjoying the toys we buy for her...but sometimes she really just starts biting our hands ALOT...i dont know the BEST way to "discipline her"...I have been giving her toys as soon as she does it, but sometimes even with a toy right in front of her, she would rather bite my hands! YAY...i feel bad being mean but i need to get through to her that it is NOT ok! |
