I take Julia in to get spayed.

I will drop her off at 8am(Tues. morning) and she won't be able to come home until Wed. afternoon. I know there are some vets that let them come home the same day, I wish I could bring Julia home tomorrow but I know how hard Julia and Caesar play together, so having her stay the night is probably a good thing. She'll need to rest I'm sure...I know I'm doing a good thing here, but I've already cried twice today just thinking about leaving her there. I hope she doesn't think I'm leaving her. I should probably send her favorite blanket with her, or maybe something of mine(shirt etc.)...I just keep telling myself, this needs to be done and I'll see my little princess soon.

She'll be back home before you know it. Sending something with her is a good idea, too. The hardest part for me was when Mayfly clung to me and didn't want to let go and let the vet tech take her.

A lot of us have been through this with our ratties. They've all come through just fine and we survived somehow too. It will seem like a long day and night to you. I think I called the vet 3 times while Bob was there.

Diane: I know she'll be just fine, but I can sympathize as I was the same way with Daisy. I wasn't worried about her physically having surgery, but that she would think I had left her I called the vet A LOT - LOL! She did great and I'm sure Julia will too Let us know how you're doing.

Oh, girlie! I completly understand. Apollo was netuered a little over a month ago and I litterally lost my mind. Although he got to come home the same day. I had called Shannon ( Mario's mom ) and at first she couldn't understand what I was saying! I had Emma here but she had only been home with me for 4 days. Julia will be ok and so will you. I know that's easier said than done, though. I kept telling myself that this was what was best for him to possible live longer and healthier and that, this one day without him was definitly worth him living longer and healthier.

You give Julia big kisses from all of us and she'll be home before you know it. It's the in between time that's so difficult when we love these little buggers.

You are definitely not alone! I was a basketcase when i brought frank to get neutered. I take him to a country pet clinic which is in the vets house. I got to hold him when they gave him the anesthesia and i was back before he woke up. You're little doggy will do just fine

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Izzy is going in next thursday for her spaying. I was worried sick when she had to go to the vet for just the day! But it is best for them to be spayed. But thanks for reminding me to send something along with Izzy when she goes in! Keep us updated on how she does when you bring her home?

I was pretty used to leaving Bama since he stayed with our daughter and son-in-law over weekends when we were gone to football games, but it was still SO different leaving him for his neutering. He LOVES staying at Jessi and Randy's because he gets to play with Mav, Lulu, Scruffy Pup, and Nellie, and when we go to my MIL's and leave him there for a few hours, he LOVES that because our great-nephew is usually there and they have a blast, BUT he HATES the vet's office. Everytime I have to stop by there, I take him with me to show him it isn't always so bad, but by the time I leave, I have claw marks on my neck where he has climbed up me.

Thank you everyone!

I've called the vet twice from work and they said that everything went great and she is resting now. Wish I could hold her right now...the girl on the phone chuckled when I called and said "Hi, this is Julia's mom..." ,she told me not to worry and that she is just fine. sigh  Caesar seems so lost without her here too. He keeps looking for Julia  in her crate. It's so cute. They weighed her and she is 11.5 lbs., so big now!

I was so upset when I left her this morning, she was shaking so bad, like she knew I wasn't staying. I cried on the drive to work, during lunch and while I was reading all of your nice replies...she can come home around noon. YAY!! It's so nice to have people understand what I'm going through...

I completely understand, even though it may be a routine surgery it's still so scary! When Yogi went in for his abcessed tooth I was a basket case... They called me as soon as he woke up and it was like "Phew! I can actually work now!"

Glad to hear she's doing great!
