For the last couple of days Rocky has had an extra "goobery" left eye. Nothing unusual is draining from it. It just has extra tears and the normal "eye goobers". I just noticed that when he looks to the side, his right eye is nice and white and his left is pink and blood shot (around the colored part). He hasn't been itching at his eye and doesn't seem bothered by it at all. Is there such a thing as doggie pink eye? Has anyone seen this kind of thing before? Should I be worried?

It's probably just dust or a hair in the eye... I'd look to see if you can see it... Sophie gets little hairs stuck to her eye all the time, silly girl...
But if you can't see anything and it persists, I'd take him to the vet, just in case.

A friend suggested trying to rinse his eye to see if that helps. Would people eye drops (like clear eye) be okay to use? The redness seems to have lessened but his eye is still "goobery". I've also thought it might be allergies. It's harvest season here and people allergies are going crazy.

yes you can use "human" eye wash! Mineral oil is also a good lube for the eye.

I would think it was allergies, except it's only one eye and not the other, right?

Ripley has a special talent for getting stuff in his eyes. Our vet (who has been great with all 3 of our dogs, one of whom has extensive health issues) said that we could use human eye wash or saline without preservatives with no worries. She also said that unless the eye gunk turns green or yellow, it's normal and just the body trying to remove whatever weirdness is in there. Also watch for swelling, which could mean something lodged under the eyelid or a clogged tearduct (which, in turn, would lead to yellow or green discharge).

Good luck with Rocky, and here's hoping that he just has something odd and benign in that eye that will work its own way out!

I forget who it was, but a member here had one dog with pink eye and the other dog ended up getting it too... If his eye doesn't clear up or gets worse by Monday, you may need to get him checked out at the vet.
