Nora - the transition has been quite easy. They are almost on full NV now (after almost a week) and no stool issues except that they are darker colored...as is the NV Instinct. No gas, etc. and no allergies troubles for Mayfly. They LOVE the NV Instinct....and since it's got more calories than the Natural Balance and my 3 are naturally chubby I just don't feed them a lot so the small bags will really work for us. I do give them some extra fresh veggies, plain yogurt and pumpkin to fill them up (not all those at the same time!).

The "boys" are on NV Prarie formula now, but they have been quite gassy and Jack is itchy again! I may go back to grainless yet again. They look great though! Jeter has gotten totally shiney and softer than he was before. Money is tight here lately so the Instinct cost was just too much right now. I may have to give in and at least get it for Jack.

First of all WELCOME !!!! Beautiful girl you have there! Keep the pics coming- we love them around here!

I just posted on another thread that my top 2 picks are Innovo Evo and Timberwolf Organics. Personally we are down to our last half a bag of Evo then it's bye- bye to commercial pet food for good!!!! (IMO- too unsafe and unhealthy!) I agree with Tracey, you won't find anything healthy (or safe) in a grocery store or "mart" of any kind. I used Benful when I first got Chloe. (bad momma) She had a LOT of problems with that stuff. It isn't good at all! Which is why I started to investigate what I should be feeding her. I switched to a higher nutriton/quality cpmmercial pet food and am now prepare all their food myself.

IMO, if I had the time and money, I would definitely feed a raw food diet to my dogs.

Since I don't, I feed my dogs Blue Buffalo adult food for the big dogs and puppy food for my rattie. The Petsmarts around here (Washington State) carry it; not sure where it would be in Georgia but I'm sure their website has a store locator.

My husband's dog used to get terrible fungal ear infections and the vet thought it might be a wheat allergy. Blue Buffalo is free of wheat, corn, and soy ingredients, so we started using it about a year ago. The ear infection has only returned once, which we think was caused by excessive treats from my MIL when she was housesitting.

My dogs seem to benefit from the wheat, corn, and soy free diet, so at the very least, choose a food without those ingredients.

Edit: I'm sure the Blue Buffalo website has a store locator.

Sorry...thought I may have made it a little confusing...

I went to Petsmart and returned the big bag of Beneful I had. I got a small bag of Nature's Balance. After that we went to this place called Dog Spot. It's so cool!  They have those self dog bath things so we decided to go ahead and give her a nice bath. All of the good dog food everyone recommended they had. I am def buying my food from there next time. The treats they have are also just as healthy. The guy was telling me all about them. He gave me a few sample bags of Solid Gold- Barking at The Moon and Holistic Select. Lilly seems to really like the Holistic Select.   I will have to slowly add these thing in, but I think we're going to use those sample bags for treats. Thanks again for all help!!
