Clooney's Mommy

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well!   Clooney is doing great.  Quick question- does anyone find that Bully sticks make their Rattie hyper?  Sometimes Clooney acts crazy after eating spiral bully sticks.  He has been enjoying natural rawhide chews (in the doughnut shape), but I don't give them to him as much as Bully Sticks which are his favorite.  I heard they can be fattening too! (the Bully stix).

After his allergic reaction to Eukanuba, I have started him on Purina PRO-PLAN, (about $14.00 for a 5 lb bag).  I bought the sensitive skin/stomache formula (Salmon flavored) and he seems to like it.  Some days he eats is all up, and on other days he's not as interested.

Anyway, w/b soon!

Sally loves those bully sticks.  We get the 12" ones and then my DH cuts them in 1/2.  Only takes her about 10 minutes to eat them though....I thought it would take much longer.

Nope, bully sticks don't make my dogs hyper....and it takes them a good hour to chew them up...the 6" ones.

I give mine bully sticks 2-3 times a week and have never noticed any change in their activity level afterwards. Mine go through a 4' peice in about 10-15 minuites- crazy!

Ive never noticed Pixel hyper after chewing hers. It takes her days to a week to chew a 6 inch one. We just got a big pack of 12 inch or so ones at costco and we are cutting them in half it was $20 for the pack I dont remember how many was in it but it was about half the price of what I normally pay for them I think.

Pepper gets posessive over her bully sticks. I only give them when i hvae time to let her eat the whole thing. No hyperness, though. As far as the pro-plan, do some research into the ingredients. It's mostly fillers. I fed it to Pepper as her puppy food, and my parent's dog won't eat anything else. Rat terriers (from what i've read here) pretty commonly have food alergies, usually to certain grains, like wheat.

Couldn't agree more with Kristin on doing some research on the Pro  Plan.  Purina really is not a quality dog food- even though it is marketed as if it were.  My ratties do fine with wheat, but some may not.  And I think more often the allergies are corn related rather than wheat.  For about $3 more a bag you can get Evo for them which is a high quality food.  You might look into that, but if you switch, do it gradually!

If you have a costco membership their super preimum dog food is much better and cheaper! It really is high quality food! Kirkland brand they also make a puppy formula too.
