Hello Rat Terrier Lovers,

This is my first post and I just happen upon you all doing research about Rat Terrier's and health issues they may commonly have.

Our loving Rat Terrier Boomer may have Lymphoma or possibly  Cushing's disease.  Our vet is doing the research and the pathologist is looking at Boomer's blood and urine at this time.  Has anyone had a dog with either of these?  Maybe you would have some advice and maybe something homepathic that would work.  I cannot believe how much this has all cost.  If he does have Lymphoma we are torn about having to put him through Chemo or not treating.

Boomer started to really slow down about 4 months ago, and he seems so depressed, even after a 3 mile walk.  He is only 3 so he is very young to be having any of the above stated issues.

Anyways,  just also wanted to say Hi and state how much fun and loving and loyal Rat Terriers are!  We also have an old Golden Retriever and a sweet Chihuahua who is Boomer's girlfriend (it is a good thing they are both fixed, they LOVE each other!)

Blessings

Boomer's Mom

Welcome to the site and I'm so sorry to hear the Boomer is sick and not feeling well. No medical advice as I've not had any experience with this type of problem. If you get no medical support from this site, just know that we are here for moral support and you can unload here if you need too, k? We've all got pretty sturdy shoulders around here.

Welcome to the foroum, Boomer's Mom. I'm so sorry to hear that Boomer is having health issues at such a very young age. My Bailey will be three in October so when I read your post ... I couldn't help but think that Bailey is almost that age too. I'm not familiar with either of the diseases, but Kim is absolutely correct. We're here for moral support and have HUGE virtual shoulders you can lean on. I hope the news you receive about Boomer is good news, and would appreciate it if you would keep us posted on his progress. Information you share will be very useful and beneficial to others. *hugs*

Welcome!  Sorry to hear about Boomer's illness.  This site is great, and you'll find loads of caring folks and advice here.  Love to see some pics of Boomer.

Sorry your welcome to this wonderful site is on a sad note. I hope the vet determines your pups problem and that the prognosis will not be disheartening. We're here for you if you just need to talk. There are great people on this site, many of whom have been through similar serious health issues. They will offer much good advice for raising ratties. Do keep us informed of you pup's condition.

Thank You everyone for the welcome! I will hopefully have more information on Boomer early next week and will let you all know the outcome for him.  He is so loyal and loving I pray that he will recover from whatever he may have.

Welcome to the site! I'm sorry about Boomer too. I hope he doesn't have Lymphoma, so you don't have to make that choice.
