So there is a significant difference between getting my baby chipped at the vet (twice as much) as the spca. I assume spaying will be the same (I dont know how much the vet charges but spca is $40). My vet said she would do the chip and spay and check her teeth at the same time. Is it worth all the extra money (Im guessing $175 more than the spca) to have this done at my vet rather than the spca?

i know with my last dog we took her to the humane society to get her fixed and she was fine they asked if i wanted them to do a check up while she was there as well plus they had a after hours number in case something happened to her.on the other hand when we took our old cat to the vet he did not offer any advice for after care so i guess it depends on who you feel more comfortable with.Think the spca will see hundreds of pets vs. a vet seeing a smaller number each day you may be a little rushed at the spca as well. just my option on the matter

Just call Dani mom to a Monster on 4 legs we call BB

I had Lola spayed at the low-cost clinic, and everything went fine. They took good care of her and she's healed up well. Our local vet offered a free post-op exam after surgery, which was nice for peace of mind.  It saved me money that I can spend on dog food, treats, toys, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, more toys to replace the toys she ate, more dog food ... you get the drift!

Our Humane society has the newest technology and is almost $200 cheaper. They offer almost all of the same extras at half the cost plus I have met one of the vets so I feels good about taking my boys there.

I mean obviously you need to get her spayed, but I think if you looked around you might be able to get a better deal (i.e. maybe 40 at spca for chip + 65 low cost spay/nueter place + 45 check up or something) and still get the same services.

I have to say though, I know our humane society chips for $20, and I know of a place a county a way that chips for $15 (both 24petwatch).
