Well, the vet just called. They did a couple of test and they are contridicting. One test showed his pancreatic enzymes were high which would indicate pancreatitis however the other test they did, it is like a pregnancy test, it should change colors if it is pancreatitis, did not indicate it. Also, his red blood cell count is extremely high. They want to keep him on IV fluids overnight and give him a shot for nausea. If his count goes down and he eats and keeps it down, he can go home tomorrow. I don't think I will get much sleep tonight worrying. I know Geigh will be depressed because Boozer won't be home. |

Awww, best wishes for Boozer. I believe we take these things so much harder than they do. He will be okay and he is under care for the night should something happen. It's the safest place he can be right now. It is so hard to leave them overnight but in the end it will be worth it. Get well soon Boozer!! |

Did they do any other bloodwork? Like test for liver/kidney function? Both my traditional and holistic vet told me that because everything is in close proximity down there, to test everything to make sure......... for example.......sometimes when Sasha's enzymes were up, but she wasn't having pancreatitis symptoms, we tested her liver, and those values were elevated......
I hope they can determine what's causing Boozer discomfort.... did they xray his belly or intestinal area to rule out a blockage?
Hugs to you and Boozer!! |

| Yes, his liver and kidneys were fine. They did not mention a blockage but he was pooing normally. |

| They said it was a measurement of serum amylase and lipase, trypsin activation peptides, and trypsin-like immunoreactivity. |

YIKES! And is it a urine test? Or a blood test? Did they re-test to make sure?
I know sometimes when my vet gets a response they question, they will send it out of office if they did it in-house. |

Yeah, I did some research and found some discussion on that test. I wonder why my vets never did one on Sasha........... gonna have to ask. I have a feeling, tho, that they're gonna say that the blood test may be more reliable, as on the stuff I found, it said the test is only 85% accurate. |

| Well, I know nothing about those tests but I hope whatever was wrong with him is over soon. That shot for nausea works and it is such relief for them (and people who are nauseous). Sometimes, with humans, you throw up so much you can't stop after a while..just dry heave...happened to me several times and it is no fun. |
