Ok, I have to vent a bit. I know this is for the best but my Pixel wants to play with dogs so bad and run around in the grass and whatnot. I do own a house but its a 'patio' home. Which means I have a small front yard and a patio out back (large patio). We have over 80 parks in the town I live in but the vet said I shouldnt take her until her shots are complete. I thought yesterday we were done with shots but she told me no, one more month. I feel like this is torturing me and Pixel I want to get her out and playing with others very bad We are going to monterey later this week and its going to kill me that she cant run around in the parks there and on the beach and whatnot. I guess I will just have to carry her around

awww...that stinks and i understand your frusturation...BUT
My Trixi came to us with Parvo and I know there are at least a few other pups here that have survived it. Amos and Domino for sure...
It is a TOTALLY DEADLY virus that they get from other dogs poop...it is EXTREMELY contagious and lives in the ground for up to like 8 years so its definitly better to be safe than sorry....
the treatment for Parvo is super expensive....from like 500-2000 bucks and they DO NOT survive it without treatment....
im not trying to sound mean Im just trying to encourage you to follow your vets recommendation....it wont be long and after shes had all her shots, you will have many years to enjoy the parks with her!!

The problem is you just don't know if any dogs infected with distemper, parvo or worse have been in a public park. Very risky to expose your puppy and you'd never forgive yourself if Pixel got a fatal puppy disease. What you could do, though, is do you know any friends with dogs that you feel are "certain" to be disease free. A lot of people will expose their puppies to "safe" dogs in "safe" yards to insure they get the much-needed puppy socializing. I know it's frustrating, but it is a workaround until your vet feels your puppy's immunity has built up enough for public germ exposure.

Yup - that sucks that she can't run free in such a beautiful area as Monterey, a city I LOVE. (We rent a beach house in Pajero Dunes every November - not far from Monterey).

Anyway... it's better to be safe.  Still have fun in Monterey!  The Aquarium and Bubba Gumps are awesome!

I know how serious it is and I trust the vets judgement. Just disappointed because I thought we were going to get to go after these shots but now we have another month. It feels like an eternity but Im sure we will survive. You are right I certainly couldnt live with knowning she died because I felt the need to take her to the park. I did take her to my inlaws the week after we got her and she socialized with 3 dogs there. Other people I know one just had a baby so Im pretty sure he isnt up for having us over and another dog nearly died when it was a puppy from some illness so they dont want her around until she is finished with her shots (i can understand that too). We went to school in monterey and were married there as well (if you are visiting check out tarpys road house, chili crusted chicken breast yumm).

I talked to the hubby and we will stop by the inlaws in gilroy on the way back from monterey and stay at least one night so she can play with those doggies.

At least you have some "safe places" you can take her until then. When my Button was little, we had just moved here and didn't know a soul. So we didn't have anyplace we could socialize her with other dogs until her shots had built up her immunity. We began the socializing as soon as we could afterwards, though.
