I tried writng this before but I was so shaken that when I did my computer froze as it can when I am that stressed.

I am mad at myself for sensing a bad situation, but not taking her and running out.

The front of the place was nice but the back looked like a butcher room, old looking intruments, Animal hair remnemnts and no tidyness what so ever.  I am not a clean freak, but this was not good.

Since it was my first time to groom, I figured I was expecting to much and let the "groomer" do many things even though I asked her  to use cleaner pad for the ears and I wanted to ask her if the nail cutter was sterile.

There was a noose like contraption over the cutting table and the bath.  Is that common?

To make a long strory short after her bath when we were drying her there was some blood on the towel, the person had cut one of her nails to deep

I was really distured, grabbed nora and told her that I did not think that was right and she said that it was to short !!!!!!!

Yes she cut it to short!!!! noras nails were long when i brought her--then she said because it was black rather than while (nora has both) that she could not see the vien and it was ok she would put something on it.

At that point it was give me my dog and let me out of here

I was furious, but did not yell--as I was leaving another women was comming in saying that her dog just left a trail of blood on the rug from bad nail cut!!

Has anyone had bad experienced at the groomer?  Could I take action?

Nora seems ok but her ears might be a little red--I will have to watch and I am wiping her paws with peroxide

I'm so sorry you has such a bad experience. Is her nail still bleeding? There's something you can get at the pet store to stop the bleeding (a powder called quick stop or something like that). I've never taken any dogs to a groomer, but that sounds like a nasty place. I think the "noose" on the grooming table is a standard thing, like a short leash to keep the dog on the table and still.
Hugs to Nora and you.

Sorry you and Nora had such a terrible first experience.  I used to do dog grooming and would use the grooming leash when the dogs were on the grooming table because it prevents the dog from jumping down and getting injured.  In my opinion there is no excuse for a messy grooming area.  Just like at a human beauty/barber shop the pet groomer needs to tidy up between clients.  As far as clipping nails too short, it can and does happen ( it has happened to me when I have done my own dog).  However, I would rather leave the nails a little long than to have a bleeder.  You can buy products to apply to the nail that is cut too short but, you can also use corn starch or flour to stop the bleeding.

All of Winchester's nails are black, so they always cut at least one or two of his too short, and put this yellow powder stuff on them to make them stop bleeding. The white nails, they can see the pink quick, so it is easier to judge where to cut. Sorry you had a bad experience. I only take mine for nail cuts. I bathe them in the bathtub at home.

Every groomer i've used does have the "nooses" but @ the groomer I go to said it helps to keep them from hurting themselves and also to restrain them from trying to bite or get in the way of the grooming. I always ask that they grind the nails rather than cut them. I'm not sure if anyones ever had problem with "grinding" to the point of bleeding but i'm sure its possible.

thanks guys--for helping me put this in proper perspective-

While it was a bad experience all should be well--

I sorta had the idea the noose might be standard---so if the place was clean, I would not have had questions on it. I guess I expect standards to be as good for pets as they are for people. Now that I have dog I understand why people get so attached and demanding about thier care. She really is part of my family. Another thing I see in the city is dog walkers who have to many dogs at one time EOM---It is hard to trust anyone with them---maybe becasue they can't talk!

Last time I ckecked her nail was not bleeding

Just a quick tip. If you are cutting your own dogs nails and cut one too close and it bleeds, keep a bar of soap close by. Just rake the nail against the bar of soap and it will "stop up" the blood flow. We do this when we cut our parrots toe nails.
Sorry that you had a bad experience.
