I know the changes to their Lamb and Rice food has been mentioned here but apparently they're changing all their formulas. This may not matter to most dogs but it would be wise to keep an eye on your pups for any reactions to these changes to the ingredients.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!
I posted about the lamb and rice, and was afraid that this would happen! Canidae was a great food, because it had good ingredients and wasn't as expensive as other better brands! And now they change it and make it cheaper?? %$#@&!!!!
Now I have to try to convince my parents to switch to another better brand that is probably going to be more expensive!! ARGH!!!
I'm sending a complaint to them!  |

I wish...I asked them if they would change their formulas back in my email, but I don't think they will. I think the change is due to rising food costs, and they're trying not to raise their price by cheapening their ingredients.

You can compare the old ingredients to the new ones on the link that Ski posted.
The only grains that were in the old formulas were rice. Now, they have rice bran, oatmeal, barley, and millet. Because of the barley, Canidae is no longer gluten free.
They also added potatoes, tomato pomace, and....pineapple? Also, Herring meal has been replaced with generic 'Ocean Fish Meal'.
No good for dogs with delicate digestive systems. They probably won't tolerate it anymore.
I also heard that they will be raising their price, but I'm not absolutely sure if they will. I hope not...we're definately switching if they do...I hope.
Well, at least their being honest about this, unlike Timber Wolf Organics, and they're coming right out with this. |
