so my little girl is on science diet and im transitioning to canidae all stages. Im wondering how slowly i should transition/mix the foods before going full force with the new stuff.

I usually just change over a few days...gradually increasing the new food and decreasing the old. But I've also found with the high quality foods (like Canidae) the dogs could change cold turkey and not have much problem with that.

my vet recommended transitioning, books I've read said the same thing. Like Mary Beth mentioned.

When you adjust a little bit at a time, you are able to watch the poop to see how they are taking it. If it keeps coming out solid, you can do it fairly quickly. It kinda tells you how that particular pup is handling the new food.
