Okay so, Joleigh got spayed Friday morning, everything went fine, she was home friday evening.  I havent been leaving her alone much because I didn't want her to get stressed.  It's now Sunday, and she still isn't really acting like she's feeling better. She's not acting like she's in a lot of pain, she's just sleeping a lot.  When she walks, she kinda walks with her back hunched up.  Her incision looks fine, shes not messing with it a lot but she's been licking her privates more than usual.  Ever since Friday her eye looks worse too.  Any opinions?

I don't have any ideas hon. By now she should be feeling okay. I hope someone else has some advice for you. If she doesn't seem any better tomorrow I would take her back to the vet. But then the slightest scare with mine sends us to the vet really fast. I don't like taking any chances.

I would check with the vet, after Bailey's spay she spent the night and the next day when I brought her home, she didn't act any different at all. she couldn't jump up on the bed but other than that she was back to normal.

She should be feeling better by now...is she peeing a lot? Sometimes a dog will get a UTI after a spay. What's wrong with her eye? (Sorry, haven't a chance to read as many posts as I used to!). I'd at least call the vet and ask about this.

shes not peeing a lot, same as before, but she seems to have cheered up a bit since the day went on, maybe she was just still tired when i got up this morning. I have school tomorrow and I have to go but ill call the vet b/w classes and ask them what they think. she got sprayed in the eye by a bug last monday, it swole up pretty bad and I brought her to the vet & the spray the bug sprays is a acidic chemical which burned the cornea of her eye.

Well, maybe between the spay and eye injury she's just extra tired. Glad she's perked up some!

Some dogs are very sensitive to anesthetic and it can take them a full day or two to snap back to normal. You might let your vet know as they may use something else if they ever have to put her under again.

Took my Zipper 3-4 days to be civil to Button and she just wanted to be left alone to sleep. By day five she was OK. Now Button was literally bouncing off the walls by the next day! LOL Just varies from dog to dog. Sounds like she's snapping back at a usual pace to me.

okay, uhm... she's peeing a lot now. She pee'd in my bed this morning around 530, I got up and cleaned it (and me) off, & came downstairs to bring her out to see if she had to go again, i grab her leash, turn around & she's peeing on the floor, I brought her outside anyways & she peed again. I had a class @ 8 but called the vet on my break between classes and she said to give it till tomo & if she's still frequently peeing, bring her in. This is killing me, but I can't afford it. Well I can, but with the money I set aside for her vet visit next week to check up on her eye. The last week has already cost 800 in vet bills & my parents paid for half, but im not sure if they'll want to pay more. =( i dont want to have to pick which visit to do, but the medicine for her eye takes 2 weeks to run its course so it would be pointless to try to combine the two tomorrow, but i dont want her to be in pain.. ugh.

Youch thats expensive vet bill. How much was it to spay her? I need to get pixel done I was thinking of going to the spca clinic where its like $40 but you can only go on a certain day. Does anyone feel like I should have it done at my local vets office instead (I have no idea of the price Ill find out sat) to be on the safer side? My vets office is right across the street from my house whereas the spca is not close at all.

Sounds really steep even for the eye and the spay. Where are you again? That's a lot of $ for those two things.

Maybe it is a urinary infection. She may need antibiotics. My sister in law lost a cute little pom mix, when she had him neutered, and he developed a urinary/kidney infection, and his kidneys shut down...I would see if the vet would consider it a followup to her spay surgery, and not charge you.

I called the vet, they said they wouldn't consider it a follow up, that i'd have the pay for the visit. I asked if they have a payment plan & they said no. =( we're going tomorrow. My apartment also claims that my air conditioners not broken, its just simply "too hot outside" for it to cool off. It hasn't gone below 80 in about 3 weeks now & that was with it running constantly. They came "fix it" again today, and it wont go below 90 now. It's 90 degrees in my apartment. It's 92 degrees outside. He said if what he did today doesn't work there is nothing else they can do.

Ouch! Maybe see if the windows are leaking air.Maybe put some tape along the bottom. Are you in an upstairs, or downstairs apt?

I have a town house, its on the second & third floor. It was fine and one day it just quit working. The top floors window is shaded all day so its usually not too hot up there. I had my dad check the windows & they are all fine, he put tape on a few places which may have been an issue, but the biggest problem is the door, which has a gap on one ofthe sides where all the nasty bugs come in. I can't tape my door shut, I keep a towel by it and put it in front of it when im inside but when im gone it does no good.

I think you can get a draft strip, for your door at Home Depot, or somewhere. Don't think they are too expensive.

That makes me so angry!  If I were you, I would call my landlord again and "patiently" explain that the air conditioning was working fine before, which means that it CAN cool your place even when it's hot out, and if it's not cooling your place now, then it's BROKEN and if he advertised the townhouse as "air conditioned" when you rented it, then he needs to deliver on that promise and get it fixed ASAP or ELSE.

*Ahem*  Sorry.  I've dealt with a lot of crummy landlords and it makes me furious!  That is YOUR home that you are PAYING for and you do not deserve to be miserable in it just so your landlord can save a few bucks!  Do you know I once had a landlord promise to fix a broken window before we moved in, and when we got there she said she hadn't gotten to it yet because she'd been really busy, but it was still warm out so it didn't matter and she would get to it the next week, and then a month later when it finally started to snow and I DEMANDED to have the window fixed, she DUCT-TAPED IT?!?

Okay, sorry, that was me in renter-rant mode.  I hope you get things worked out with your dog; it sounds like she's been through a lot lately, poor baby!

i'm just so sick of it.. i was uuber nice all 4 times i've asked them to come look, and when i go today it'll be the 5th. I tried to explain to her last time that my electricity bil is going tobe about the same price as my rent if it doesn't start to shut off every once in awhile. I'm worried about JOleigh now, cause one of my friends mentioned that she could get sick from being in the heat all day, esp without circulation. It sucks that it feels better outside, but i'm not sposed to keep her outside much till her eye gets better

I hate that you are having to go through all of this, AND that Joleigh is having difficulties. I'm sure we could all share our landlord/renter horror stories, but bottomline is.... sometimes being nice simply doesn't work. Your vet bills sound terribly high to me, but could be reasonable for the location you are in? I hope your parents can help out... and I hope Joleigh feels better soon!

Umm there is something else they can do, replace the AC. Patching gaps and things is not going to fix it from being 90 inside with the ac constantly on and 92 outside. Im sorry your doggy is not feeling well and your AC is broke. I would contact them again and tell them to replace it if they cant fix it or you will start witholding rent.

What state are you in? Do a search for tenants rights on your state. http://www.hud.gov/renting/tenantrights.cfm there may be something you can do.
